Why the constant push for gun control?
The Paris Post-Intelligencer ^ | July 1, 2016 | Dr. Larry Moore

Posted on 07/03/2016 12:14:13 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

There is a “ho-hum” factor in the continuing pressures to have better gun control.

Watch the liberal left and the Democrats in the House of Representatives push, tug and lie about “weapons of war.”

These lawmakers want to first restrict AR-15s or similar automatic rifles. If they’re ever successful, then it’s only another step or two to eliminate other rifles, handguns and ammo.

Why the constant push to eliminate guns and the Second Amendment?

Here are a few more surprising facts about gun control that won’t be announced by liars who think gun control will reduce loss of lives.

Everyone who can think knows that cars, knives, baseball bats, rocks and fist fights kill people, too. Then why do the liberal leftists want to reduce gun ownership by citizens?

Dr. Gary Kleck, a professor of criminology at Florida State University, was influenced by evidence that when citizens carried guns, crimes were prevented.

His research showed that law-abiding uses of guns beat criminal uses by a “factor of 1,000 to one,” and that is an impressive statistic to allow gun ownership.

A quote from Kleck’s research tells us, “Americans use firearms to defend themselves from criminals at least 764,000 times a year.”

Florida statistics showed that when the state allowed concealed weapons, the firearm homicide fell by 37 percent, while the national average increased by 15 percent.

What possible reason by liberals could trigger this unconstitutional attack on the Second Amendment?

Does anyone recall President Barack Obama saying our “civilian national security force must be as powerful as the military” in a 2008 speech in Colorado Springs, Colo.?

Here is some conspiracy fodder to prop up what plans may be in the hopper for the near future.

Elizabeth Harrington, writer for the Washington Free Beacon, reported this insight on guns on June 22.

There are now more non-military government employees who carry guns than there are U.S. Marines, according to an Open the Books.com report.

Open the Books, a taxpayer group, reported that domestic government agencies increase stockpiles of military-style weapons.

Democrats sat on the House floor calling for more restrictions on guns at the same time.

Here are some other eye-openers from Harrington in her printed article, the “Militarization of America.”

She reported civilian agencies spent $1.48 billion on guns, ammunition and military-style equipment between 2006 and 2014.

Why would 2,316 IRS agents be armed with AR-15s? Why are civilian EPA bureaucrats wearing camouflage? Did the IRS have a grudge against the Tea Parties?

Open the Books said. “The Food and Drug Administration includes 183 armed ‘special agents,’ a 50 percent increase over the ten years from 1998-2008.

“At Health and Human Services (HHS), ‘Special Office of Inspector General Agents’ are now trained with sophisticated weaponry by the same contractors who train our military Special Forces troops.”

Open the Books found there are now more than 200,000 non-military federal officers with arrest and firearm authority, surpassing the 182,100 personnel who are actively serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

The IRS spent nearly $11 million on guns, ammunition and military-style equipment for its 2,316 special agents. The EPA spent $3.1 million on guns, ammo and equipment.

If this equipment was not issued before, why are non-military personnel getting it lately?

Why not fully equip Navy Seals and U.S. Army soldiers who report shortages of rifles and other equipment?

It is not okay to have shortages of weaponry for our best-trained combat troops.

One way to stop this outrage is to vote against Hillary Clinton, who will continue the facade of protecting us from our own military troops.

Donald Trump is more trustworthy.

John Burns was 69 when he fought in the Battle of Gettysburg, borrowing a wounded Union soldier’s more modern rifle.

I’ll be 68 later this year. My modest assortment includes a Garand, an M-14 semiauto (love it, LOVE it!), but the star is my Israeli Golani. All steel AK style frame, shoots 5.56mm like a dream, & not at all like the aluminum toothbrush AR-15 (Sorry folks, but I have dug `commie chic’ weapons ever since Vietnam).

The Golani is no longer imported but turns up on gunbroker.com.

"Why the constant push to eliminate guns and the Second Amendment?"

Because they are way behind schedule - this should have been wrapped up two years ago.
Everything else is ready, but the 80 million gun-owners is proving to be problematic. They thought we would roll over like our British and Aussie cousins.

I noticed that too. People who write articles about firearms should be forced to, at a minimum, become NRA certified instructors on the weapons platforms in question. If they fail this requirement, their articles should be signed, “Clueless Jerk.”

Answer: the elites want total control over a helpless disarmed populace.

I ask because I’ve heard that “weapons of war” statement from numerous people since the Orlando shooting, but don’t remember ever hearing that phrase before.

Interesting; I'd actually thought of this quote:

The power of the sword, say the minority[…], is in the hands of Congress. My friends and countrymen, it is not so, for The powers of the sword are in the hands of the yeomanry of America from sixteen to sixty. The militia of these free commonwealths, entitled and accustomed to their arms, when compared with any possible army, must be tremendous and irresistible. Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom. Congress has no power to disarm the militia. Their swords and every terrible implement of the soldier are the birthright of Americans.
-- Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, 20 Feb 1788.

(Weapon of war is the terrible implement of the soldier.)

“They thought we would roll over like our British and Aussie cousins.”

Our cousins HAD to roll over - their guns were already registered & the po-po knew exactly where the guns were. Bring them in or go to jail, mate.

There is no confiscation without registration, and any bill to establish a national gun registry in the U.S. is already DOA in Congress.

Equally DOA is any attempt to repeal the Second Amendment. Dianne Feinstein can steam rage out of her ears from here to Christmas but everything she’s introduced since 1978 has come to naught.

Obama can glower & glare and wave his pen & phone, but show us the results, Mr. Preezy.

Why the constant push for gun control, and the heavily arming of every department in the federal government?

Unfortunately, much of that population increase is gibsmedats and low information types, which are no threat to the liberal agenda.

The mere fact that they are no threat does not spare them. What happened to many of Lenin's "useful idiots" in the USSR, when they became no longer "useful"? They were slaughtered en masse as well. The same would happen here.

The sobering fact is that there is a finite number that a mere handful of "elites" can successfully control at all times. Any in excess of this number *will* be "pruned". What do you think "the Georgia Guidestones" are all about?

>>The number needed to be extermintated may well have dropped as the true patriot population ages.<<

Think back to the Washington snipers who caused so much havoc that the politicians almost crapped and resigned because they didn't have any idea how to contain them. A few sharpshooters can create a helluva lot of turmoil if they think before they shoot.

I believe its picked up by the media, then the echo effect starts, and soon, every lefty tool is spouting the latest anti-American meme.

Have you started to see "gun sense" replace "gun control"?

If you don’t think they already know where 90% of the guns are, you are fooling yourself.

Obviously, this President isn’t destroying background check records.

The NSA monitors all communications. So even private, no paper sales are suspect.

Buying ammo for your piece? Well, now they know your caliber(s).

Any accessories purchased? Now they got your exact model.

Laz, a Form 4473 is a snapshot of the point of sale. It is not a marriage certificate.

Are we required to report the sale or transfer of a firearm listed on 4473? No; that would be part of a national gun registry law, which will never come up for a vote in Congress.

Are they going to show up at my door and demand, “this 4473 says you bought an AR-15 on 10 January 2015. Where is it?” Not unless there is registration, and without registration there is no confiscation.

As for knowing what we buy, I just bought one of those 100,000 lumen flashlights for $9.70 or whatever. I’m now getting a gazillion popups/emails for that same model or batteries for it. That’s just IT tracking what we buy so they can sell us more stuff. If I buy tacticool stuff for my AR, I’ll get more tacticool popups.

No Pollyanna here; I know this regime is lawless. But they are not omnipotent. So to calm my fears I surfed the internet on the subject of well, repealing the Second Amendment, door to door confiscation, reeducating the masses to hate guns, ostracizing gun owners, etc.

What I got was a rough consensus from both sides that there is really nothing to be done; the American gun culture has been inculcated in our society since the late 1600’s, it’s political suicide to push for gun confiscation (is Dianne Feinstein a threat to our civil liberties? She’s an Alka Seltzer in Niagara Falls), and actual attempts to confiscate will result in armed insurrection. In fact, propagandizing the public to hate guns/owners is the gungrabbers’ only real strategy, which says they are pretty impotent, in my opinion.

Look at Obama on guns, for cripes sake. He foams, he glowers, he threatens, and for what? Nothing. Now, people are rightly scared about the “terrorist watch list”. Once you’re on it, it’s hell to get off. That’s why those four `gun control’ measures died in the Senate last week.

If the NSA knows what I’m thinking, then so do Omar & Achmed. It’s a dangerous world, made more so by our criminally negligent administration, so all we as citizens can do is arm ourselves & stay alert & informed.

Laz, please don’t go heavy. You’re the life of the party here at FR. Let’s keep it light like the Kurds who made that anti-ISIS vid. Stay cool, FRiend.

;^)

Laz! Why are we so screwed? This isn’t freaking Zimbabwe!

I know optimism is boring as all get out, but you must know I’m a OFWG with high blood pressure. My research of the weeks since the Orlando Massacre has done much to lower it! Share the joy; Hillary is not the Empress Dowager who commands “off with their heads!” She’s a pantsuited protoplasmic volcano topped by an animatronic head lusting for power.

Buck up man, this summer we’re going on vacation and Hillary is our dancing campfire girl. Fun to watch.
