The false narrative emerging from the media seeks to make a few points, all of which are red herrings and straw men designed to take attention from the truth.
The shooter, Omar Mateen, was homophobic because he hated gays. Mateen was unstable because he was mean and beat his wife Mateen had too much unfettered access to guns Mateen was not religiously motivated
Story after story references these points, and they quote each other liberally (take the pun as you wish).

December 20, 2014 Muslim man named Ismaaiyl Brinsley brutally murdered two New York City police officers. Police believe Brinsley was seeking revenge for the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown at the hands of police.
October 24, 2014 a man who had recently converted to Islam attacked four New York City police officers with an 18-inch metal hatchet. The incident occurred on a crowded sidewalk in Queens.
April 15, 2013 Chechen brothers Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev exploded two pressure cooker bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.The bombings killed three people including an eight-year-old boy. Hundreds of runners and spectators were seriously injured. Seventeen people saw their limbs blown off.
November 5, 2009 Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire in an attack at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. Hassan killed 13 people and wounded over 30 more.
June 1, 2009 a man named Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad killed one soldier and injured another in a drive-by shooting targeting a U.S. military recruiting office in Little Rock, Ark.

The left has a real problem here. The shooter was a member of one of their protected groups (Muslim.) On the other hand, his victims were also members of protected groups (gay and Hispanic.) So now the question becomes: “How do we assign blame without offending Muslims, and without appearing unsympathetic to our other protected groups? Answer: Let’s ignore the fact that this was clearly a case of Islamic terrorism, and blame it on the availability of guns!
Yet the shooter's religion teaches that it's OK to beat your wife and they you have a moral obligation to kill gays. Further, the majority of islamic mass killings in this country (9/11. Boston marathon, OK City) didn't see a single shot fired. There most certainly is a common denominator in these attacks and it's not guns.
