Kevin Knodell writes at The Week that in response to the rising Chinese influence in the South China Sea and a troubled relationship with Chinese-allied Pakistan, the United States is building new ties with India.
He notes that the US has surpassed Russia as Indias largest military supplier, that Indian special forces recently participated in joint exercises at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and that Secretary of Defense Ash Carter recently discussed the possibility of sharing technology to help New Delhi build its first domestically produced aircraft carrier INS Vishal .
It won’t last.
India has been a client state of the Rooski for too long.
We need India to play off against the Chicoms. Manpower wise they are the only country that could come close to competing with the Chinese. They may run back to the Russians but the Russians are playing with fire in their new found friendship with the Chinese. Siberia is there for the taking anytime the Chinese want it and the only Russian response capable of doing anything is nukes.
India and China have a history and we should play on that and push for bases again in the Philippines and I hate to say it but opening up more relations and very carefully with Vietnam.
I predict the Chinese will go to war in the far east in the next 5 yrs. Probably against Japan or possibly Taiwan to divert attention away from their imploding economy in hopes of the communists retaining power.
