Captain America has to be the all time favorite super hero, as he fights the bad guys with his famous round shield. We are also, fascinated with bulletproof objects like the Captain America shield.
Gun retailers Miculek.com took this thought a step further and actually tested a Captain America shield weighing 12 pounds. Miculek did make a modification on the shield, he used a titanium one, where as in the comic, the shield was made by Vibranium. Stan Lee the comic creator came up with the term because he wasnt a metallurgist.
So Miculek crew took the shield out to the range to test it against a .45 cal pistol. Yes, it does stand up to the test, see the action here.
Not only did Jerry use a Titanium shield, he used low velocity frangible ammunition.
Captain America’s shield is made of a miraculous fictional alloy which exists only in comic books.
Yeah. Its bulletproof. Because they said so.
I thought it was a vibrainum admantium alloy...
Too bad he had to use titanium for the shield rather than finding some of the fictional material that exists only in the fantasy world of Marvel comics. Then we could have had a REAL test of Captain America’s shield.
vibrainium sounds like a sex toy
I always figured it had some kind of ‘super’ power like the predators slow motion razor sharp frisbee weapon.
Bullet proof is a given.
It also absorbs most of the kinetic energy that hits it, which is why Thor can hit it with all his might without turning Captain America’s arm into jelly.
Bullets would hit the shield and immediately drop to the ground.
The only question is why Captain America’s shield returns to him when he throws. If it absorbs all kinetic energy, it should drop to the ground where it hits after being thrown.
Because it is fiction. Fiction does not require consistancy, logic, or adhering to physical laws.
Loved this! My favorite superhero is Capt America (of course: I’m retired military, married to a military man, daughter of a WWII/Korea/Vietnam vet, and stepmom to a military man! Born in a military hospital and raised around flight lines...I must have red, white and blue blood!)
Thanks for sharing!:) God bless the USA!
Yeah, its got that ‘come hither’ - Thor type thingy going for it as well.
It doesn’t absorb energy, it reflects it back. Or would, if it was real.

It’s actually made out of Flubber, just like Obama.
It is rated Level IV unobtainium alloy. It stops .308, 5.56 armor piercing, just about everything but Hillary Clinton’s tongue.
It is nice that CA painted a target on it.
I always thought that a bullet proof shield would be a good idea for heavy infantry especially when traversing open areas under small arm for. The concept of armored heavy infantry needs to come back.
a.k.a. Unobtainium
"....no it only looks like a watermelon... It's actually my cousin Ernie who thinks he's a watermelon"
Well, Captain America's shield is tougher than Huma, that much is certain.
I just threw up in my mouth, a little...
