Arghhhh! That somehow sounds worse! I thought they sheared the dog like a sheep, or a recruit in boot camp!
The rescue has found no physical evidence there was fighting among the dogs. They are basically all puppies in attitude.
We are also checking for microchips in case these dogs belong to someone else. One of our volunteers found a stray pug yesterday with a microchip and discovered it was missing for four years and returned to the owners.
How worse?
Definitely alot of work and headache with fine hairs everywhere for a month.
These dogs should not be sheared. The undercoat protects them from heat and cold, and the coat generally protects from sun. I really don’t like when people do that to dogs like this, thinking it’s “cooler”.

Lost my Belgian shepherd recently and just can’t have another dog.

I had a large long haired German shepherd years ago and she was to be put down within a week. She lived a great life with us and we miss her.
I was left with my Belgian shepherd and he died form cancer and then I got another Belgian shepherd thinking it would replace my other, he never , but he too died and I miss them all, so much don’t know if I can ever have another dog.

I had to special-shampoo my last GS every week (long story), so used a commercial bathing shop. They groomed also, and sometimes they’d shave a dog like these down to the skin “for summer”. Personally, as proprietor I would refuse to do that! (I loved the people there, but still disagree with doing just anything a master wants.) I was shocked when my Border-Collie-crazy farm aunt likewise once shaved one of her dogs. (I thought she got yet another new dog LOL.) Didn’t think a knowledgeable person would do that.
Undercoats are a pain but necessary. The dog looks nasty for a while and puts fur all over the house and anything near it. Plucking is quite a chore, I must say.
Update:
All of the 38 dogs taken from the residence in Highland last week have left the Devore shelter with rescue groups!
