Citing in part his support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, students at the University of Alabama in Huntsville are protesting U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions as the keynote speaker at spring graduation.
A petition on Change.org points to an array of reasons Sessions should not be welcome as the graduation speaker but primarily focuses on his growing ties with Trump, the GOP front runner.
Sessions is chair of the Trump campaign's National Security Advisory Committee and has been a strong influence on Trump's immigration policies. Sessions, who arranged a meeting between Trump and GOP leaders earlier this month in Washington, has also been speculated as a vice presidential candidate.
Despite the petition, posted over the weekend and now with 315 signatures by midday Monday, the school stood by its decision to tap Sessions as the graduation speaker for the May 1 event at the Von Braun Center....

Almost ashamed to say I graduated from there.
If you know nothing else it’s hard to go wrong by supporting almost anyone that college moochers protest against.
If you cannot name the UAH mascot without looking it up, it doesn’t matter.
I live in Alabama and I didn’t know until just now looking it up.
Are you going to give the stage to everyone that protests? That would make you like the mainstream media.
It’s probably not the same school you attended. Most of them have gone full communist.
They might welcome Bernie thinking he would forgive their federally guaranteed student loans. Executive order.

A dynamic combination. One who lied her way up the ladder by pretending to be an Indian and one that lied his way up the letter about what was done to Indians and dismissed for it.

I would strongly encourage those students who don’t want Sen. Sessions to give the keynote address to pick their diplomas up in the Dean’s office and get the hell outta Dodge! I hope the school has measures in place to keep hecklers and the like from ruining the ceremony for the students that want a civil graduation.......
On the topic of UAH (I’m a Alabamian as well)...other than a decent baseball team, there’s nothing much to discuss NCAA sports-wise. The university is noted for having sub-standard professors. If you have a degree from UAH, it’s regarded as less in value when applying for a job. Local companies will invite graduates for interviews, but as they go down technical questions that the kid should have answered correctly, and failed...they carve off only the better of the choices. Luckily, those who don’t go this route....will end up as high-school teachers in the local area.
Maybe if they were lucky....they’d get Sessions cancelled, but then get Governor Bentley instead (who is hyped up on some affair presently).
