Jake Tapper was on fire Monday afternoon on CNN’s “The Lead With Jake Tapper.”
He interviewed Amanda Carpenter, CNN contributor and former Cruz staffer, whose name has been dragged through the mud the last few days when she was rumored to be one of Ted Cruz’s “secret mistresses,” even though there is not only ZERO evidence that Carpenter ever had an inappropriate relationship with Cruz, but also NO evidence whatsoever that ANY of the rumors are credible.
Even in the face of these disgusting smears, Carpenter handles it with grace, integrity, and class. She has not once stooped as low as Trump or his campaign. And she is resolute in her answer.
After Tapper’s interview with Carpenter, he had Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a senior advisor for the Trump campaign, join him to discuss why the Trump campaign has been spreading these smears and false allegations. Sanders did her best to carefully dodge the questions, but Tapper was having none of it. Watch her unsuccessful dancing act below.

The Melania photo was likely purchased months ago and was being saved for the ‘ripe moment.’
The Cruz Mistress Crises -#theThing was heavily rumored to be released in March. So Cruz’s team sent out the Trump photo as a preemptive strike to soften the blowback for Cruz. The bonus was Cruz mocking the outrage and being able to blame Trump for retaliatory treatment.
And, there’s proof on the celebrity gossip blogs. The first challenge to find a cheating POTUS candidate was in August 2015. It was supposed to be with a journalist. Another challenge was issued (but reworded more specific) in December 2015. Hundreds of comments or tips were sent in to their sleuths. And POTUS was solved to be Cruz 12/15, BTW. Only difference is the mistress was supposed to be a lobbyist this time. So maybe there’s another guy, yet to be outed. Or maybe a mistress yet to be uncovered.
Team Cruz likely received a 48 hour notice from the Enquirer before print. That is how they dealt with Sarah Palin’s daughter and Levi Johnson. They informed both families 2 days prior. Sarah was forced to disclose Bristol’s condition and said that they had been given no choice. But they did give her the courtesy of the “heads-up.”

Let’s be clear... is a mother of two young kids being called a whore on Twitter morning, noon, and night because she was named in a tabloid story as a politician’s mistress with no proof whatsoever.
If the same charge were thrown at Melania or Ivanka Trump with the same amount of evidence, Trump fans would be ready for war with the accuser.
Carpenter can’t disprove the claim because no one can disprove an allegation of adultery; no one can substantiate one’s whereabouts at all times. All she can do is subject herself to this and put her side of the story out there, even though the other “side” consists of … nothing.
You know what Carpenter’s really guilty of? She’s guilty of partiality to Cruz the politician, which has made her a frequent Trump critic on TV and in print. That’s what she’s paying for here, not any “affair.”
The rumor is a pretext to punish her for her real sin, which is being anti-Trump and pro-Cruz.
If people want to believe that she,s a lying cheat who was unfaithful to her husband and shamed her children, the least they could do is provide GOOD, CONVINCING EVIDENCE. Not innuendo. Otherwise, it’s nothing bu a smear and a sin against the ninth commandment.
The Cruz office on April 1st all sported Churchill temporary tattoos.
The “Daddy Cruz” moniker got started when Cruz’s daughter were ridiculed in the Washington Post and Cruz defended them.
What source do you have of anyone in Amanda’s family saying there was an affair? I’m not talking about someone else saying they said it.

Is it wrong to post pictures of food on social media? People do it all the time.
Heck, just today, Trump just retweeted attacks on Heidi Cruz. It’s even alarming Trump fan Newt Ginrich who is now criticizing him publicly on the same day that an even bigger superfan, Ann Coulter, called Trump “mental” in an interview.
