Happy Easter - And Remember: Our Risen Lord Rules in Man's Governments and is the Ultimate Elector

In all this election fray, it’s a good time to remember the Book of Daniel which talks about who is really in charge - repeated four times. Only has to say it once but apparently we need a lot of reminders.

“the most High rules in the kingdom of men; and he will give it to whoever it pleases him, and he will appoint the basest man over it” (Dan 4:14).

“the most High rules over the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomsoever he will” (Dan 4:22).

“the most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whoever he will” (Dan 4:29).

“the most High rules in the kingdom of men, and he will set over it whoever it pleases him” (Dan 5:21).

On this Resurrection Day, let us remember that whatever we do, let us put less trust and confidence in our own efforts and the efforts of man, and more confidence and trust in our Risen Lord and Savoir who is the Ruler over man and his government.

In ancient history the Israelites wanted a king. God was non-pleased but He allowed them to choose King Saul who wound up in the end consulting a witchcraft medium. Yes God rules but he allows humanity to choose their own disasters.

He is risen!

When I arose at 5am this blessed Easter Sunday morning, I asked myself what I might do to be of some service to my fellow fallen and flawed human sinners.

Although having been “churched” most of my life, as an older adult I grew increasingly suspicious of what we know as “BIG organized religion” and sought out churches, like Chalcedon Presbyterian, where the Bible was still preached. I have, however, NEVER forgotten or dismissed an experience I had in a little church in Lakewood, Ohio when I was 13 years old.

You younger people may not even know who Kris is. Do not be fooled by his halting speech: He is a Rhodes Scholar and talented musician/composer.

Well, that’s what we tend to think - we’re in charge.

But God says,

“HE will set over it whoever it pleases HIM”.

I’ll go with God’s assessment. Let God be true and every man a liar.
