Vote For Trump, Go Broke, Or Die
The Market-Ticker ^ | March 3, 2016 | Karl Denninger

Posted on 03/03/2016 4:24:04 AM PST by SatinDoll

I know, the headline sounds dramatic.

It's true.

Trump has just released his health care reform proposal. He is the only candidate that has put forward a plan that will force down the cost of medical care by as much as 80%, rendering Obamacare unnecessary along with Medicare.

Require price transparency from all healthcare providers, especially doctors and healthcare organizations like clinics and hospitals. Individuals should be able to shop to find the best prices for procedures, exams or any other medical-related procedure.

....

Remove barriers to entry into free markets for drug providers that offer safe, reliable and cheaper products. Congress will need the courage to step away from the special interests and do what is right for America. Though the pharmaceutical industry is in the private sector, drug companies provide a public service. Allowing consumers access to imported, safe and dependable drugs from overseas will bring more options to consumers.

These two points, will cause competition to drive down the cost of medical procedures, and if enforced using already-existing law (15 USC) it will happen.

No new laws need to be passed; the existing body of law is sufficient which means Trump as President can do this immediately, since The Executive is charged with enforcing the law.

It is illegal under 15 USC to take any action when market power exist to conspire to fix prices, restrain trade or harm competition. Violators are subject to ruinous fines and imprisonment, making the age-old "cost of doing business" game by companies a non-factor.

Trump is the only candidate out of both parties promising to do this. If he does the federal deficit disappears instantaneously and permanently. Your cost of living falls. Your purchasing power increases every single year. At the same time your cost of medical care will fall precipitously, by as much as 80%.

I've pointed this out repeatedly over the years in these pages.

If you do not support Trump and do everything in your power to not only make sure he is elected but that he keeps his promise then you will wind up broke, dead or both.

It's that simple, and that important.

This is now a single-issue election, and there is only one candidate with the correct view on the issue.

Donald Trump.

simply being able to shop across state lines would do wonders...

example:if you work for a company in PA but live in NY and that company has insurance out of PA that's legal

but if you work for yourself, you have to buy insurance from the state you live in, that's wrong

It does not matter what the plan is. If this group that love Trump thinks trump could actually say anything with a real thought but “its gonna be Huge” then he is a real thinking guy who is gonna turn it around for “Bubba”. They are going to be SO embarrassed someday to have put forth a candidate like him. And passed up a real conservative. Now we get Trump or Hillary. Pox on them!

The quotation had to do with allowing more free competition among drug companies, not necessarily with repealing Obamacare as a whole.

I will state, not merely imply, my opinion that Congress will never find the courage to do what is right for America.

Anything that requires Congress to find the courage to do what is right won’t happen.

Interesting. Socialists will give up control of 1/6 of the economy with their plan that potentially controls 5/6 of your life...and death. What will John Obamacare Roberts say to any variation on that theme.

HOORAY Trump

You may want to do a little research on the issue. I'd start with Denninger’s book Leverage. We can easily get there.

Why can a dose of scorpion anti-venom cost $100 a vial in Mexico and $10,000 in Merica? Same with a 90 day course of Hep-C drugs that are $90,000 here and $1000 in India. exact same items mind you. The difference is the Government allows and promotes price fixing here. There should not be a sliding scale for pharmaceutical prices based on where you live in the world.

Another example is the Oklahoma SCenter, which began posting prices a few years ago. Their surgeons are not taking price cuts, but their model allows them to charge much less than traditional hospitals./> http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/07/31/a-new-health-care-approach-dont-hide-the-price/?_r=0

“On NewChoiceHealth.com, which compares prices offered by different facilities in the same city, Smith’s prices are consistently the cheapest or near it in Oklahoma City. Several hospitals charge $17,200 for laparoscopic hernia repair — for which Smith charges $3,975. A gallbladder removal is $24,000 at some hospitals in the city; it’s $3,200 at the Surgery Center. His prices are better in part because ambulatory surgical centers are cheaper than hospitals (for many reasons), but also there’s a virtuous circle here. He can post his prices because they are good ones. And they are good because he’s chosen to compete on price”

The post you respond to notes that drug costs are only 15 pct of health care costs and cutting them 80 pct cannot possibly lead to an 80 pct cut in overall costs... and you respond by noting that drug costs can be cut 80 pct. SMH

Again, it is irrelevant. That will barely make a 12 pct drop even if it comes through. 80 does not equal 12.

I also commented on OSC and what they are doing with surgical cost. They have been making money doing procedures for about 20% of what other hospitals charge.

Do yourself a favor and read up a little before you discount it wholesale.

Trump basically followed Karl Denninger’s advice and released the first real and substantive health care plan to come from our side. I was hoping he would do this. This plan is a game changer for the country if it is implemented.

Nope, couldn’t find it, but he is pro-life and that is on his site whereas DT does not have any pro-life statements. He does have this in his healthcare policy.

“Finally, we need to reform our mental health programs and institutions in this country. Families, without the ability to get the information needed to help those who are ailing, are too often not given the tools to help their loved ones. There are promising reforms being developed in Congress that should receive bi-partisan support.”

What does that mean? Sounds pretty general in terms to me.

“...Just believe.” It sounds like a Disney commercial.

I can understand someone disagreeing with an idea, but how can you mock something that you obviously have no idea about the subject?

We were not on a path to reducing health care inflation before the ACA, so eliminating it is not going to magically make things cheaper. Trump’s website says that that would not be enough.

He is going to open the markets to cheap foreign made clone drugs. How about Trump’s idea of making America great again by bring back manufacturing jobs? Is it okay to import aspirin but not electronics? You will be able to shop overseas for your medicine but you have to have your Ford made in the US? Is this what I’m hearing?

WE need to come up with the courage (or desperation) to throw every one of these traitors & leeches OUT.

Only if you have a whole lot of ignorance stuck in your ears.

This doesn’t mention cheap clone drugs. For many years, the pharma companies have been fleecing the people of this country while selling the same exact drugs elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. Allowing them to be imported from other countries (same drugs) would introduce free market forces that would stop the fleecing immediately. If prices needed to be raised to pay for R&D, the price increase would be spread evenly across the world and not just paid for on the backs of US citizens.

Discouraging the moving of American manufacturing to other countries is a completely different issue and any attempt to compare the two positions and imply some sort of hypocrisy is silly.

The US taxpayers and patients subsidize - by paying full price — these other countries’ health care systems and patients.

Those nations that wag their fingers at us, lecturing us about how much US health care costs compared to theirs...we’re not only paying for their national defense, but for their health care.

Feel better now?
