Not only is the assumption "a fundamental mistake", it, by necessity of logic, transfers that same assumption and guilt to many more organizations and persons than just the one displaying the flag . . .

Or would that be a problem?
if/when the next Civil War starts (I want to wear a cape, by the way,) we should build a really nice new museum.
Obviously not but a person who asks that question clearly is.
Are they racist?
Only to people with no understanding of why that war was fought.
Time to pave Gettysburg I guess.
What about civil was cemetaries?
- that one's own perception of a flag's meaning is the flag's only legitimate meaning. . . .
People must not impose their interpretation of the flag on others or project their interpretation of the flag's meaning onto others' motives for displaying it.
Just because someone views the flag as a symbol of racism does not give him the ethical right to assume that someone who displays it is a racist.
As a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans....NO! They are not racist.
What we’ve witnessed over the last several months is an effort to erase American heritage.
Fight for it folks or it will disappear forever.
Depends on the definition of “racist”. It used to include things like lynching and not hiring someone because of color and using specific words.
It now includes things like disagreeing with someone else’s economic policies or saying “all lives matter”.
By the new definition, EVERYTHING can be racist and only a non-white person is allowed to say if a specific thing is or isn’t racist.
I saw a “racist” movie on TV not long ago! MEN OF THE FIGHTING LADY. One of the Jet pilots has a helmet painted in a Confederate battle flag design!
Saw another racist movie, THE GLORY BRIGADE in which Americans and Greeks are fighting commies in Korea. One scene they come upon a construction camp that has been over run by Norks.
The Americans recognize the equipment as belonging to a civilian contractor as the bulldozer has a CONFEDERATE BATTLE FLAG painted on the front and back.
The vapors! The vapors!
