What’s at Stake - The Supreme Court, that’s What !
Canada Free Press ^ | January 25, 2016 | Chuck Lehmann

Posted on 01/25/2016 7:43:28 AM PST by justlittleoleme

Coming up during the next administration will be 3 or possibly 4 openings to fill vacancies on the Supreme Court. If you elect, as president, someone who will appoint activist judges, who will tend to have a "progressive" interpretation of the Constitution, then you can expect to see a wholesale change to our society as we know it.

-snip-

If the Democrats retain the White House, you can expect potential nominees to make decisions, if confirmed, who will promote the far-left agenda as personified by the four liberal judges now sitting on the Supreme Court (i.e. Kagan, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Ginsberg). That will give them the majority on the court.

Most all Republican candidates have promised that they will appoint and support Supreme Court nominees who will interpret the Constitution and who will not try to circumvent it by "legislating" from the bench. That must be taken into consideration when determining who you will vote for in November 2016. It is that cut and dry.

So, forget all the petty attacks by the candidates on each other, and try to visualize what our country will become if we have more (a majority) progressive (a/k/a liberal, Democrat) judges confirmed to the Supreme Court? Our society will be turned on its head, and not for the better.

This admonition goes for those who said they will not vote if their candidate does not get the Republican Party nomination. Doing that would be like cutting off your nose to spite your face. If that mind set prevails, and a Democrat is elected, you, who will sit out the election, will have no one to blame but yourselves if the prevailing opinion of the Supreme Court becomes a majority liberal court.

The elephant in the room. The whole ball of wax and no time has been spent on it. One more liberal justice and it doesn’t matter. Why do we still have freepers supporting Trump?

Absolutely right. We are one SC Justice away from losing the Republic. This is no time to elect unproven celebrities who can’t uphold the Constitution and have never even read it.

Because there are FReepers who see past all the fancy rhetoric of Cruz and see him for what he really is, a New World Order, amnesty loving , RINO supporting person unqualified by the very Constitution he is supposed to know so well.

I saw a film where Trump said that not only was he pro choice, but that he was VERY pro choice. Just who would Trump put on the SCOTUS?

The problem is not as much who’s on the SCOTUS, but the court itself... where in the Constitution does it state they can rule by decree? (left, right or center)... The “out-of-control court” is only out-of-control because the other branches of government allow it to be (the judges are the symptom not the disease).

The court’s rulings (IMHO) are often what the politicians want, but don’t have the courage to risk their seats to enact. Then they hide behind the decisions complain but do little, because getting re-elected is their goal. Presidents (Andrew Jackson and Bill Clinton come to mind) have refused to enforce SCOTUS decisions in the past. So there’s precedent. When our elected “leaders” refuse to enforce the Constitution the vacuum is filled by the activist courts. I believe Cruz would challenged them. And if we have President Trump, tell him Cruz should be his first appointment to the SCOTUS. That would be a great legacy!

What I fail to see is; At this point in time what difference does it make?
If ( and that is a big if) a Republican is happens to be elected and does get to appoint three or even four justices to the Supreme Court, what is to prevent the Democrats from filibustering their appointments? Not a damn thing. Do any of you think Mitch McConnell has the gonads to counter any filibuster with the “nuclear option”? I sure as hell do not.
The name, Robert Bork and the verb “borking” come to mind.

pssst Did you forget John Roberts?

Trump likes Judges Thomas, Alito, & Scalia.
Cruz likes. . . John Roberts.
Another say one thing/ do the opposite/ make an excuse or flip flop by Cruz.

Any difference that we can make in pushing the agenda as far away as possible from what liberals have pushed on us all the years, the better. They are 1 supreme court justice away from being able to do more serious damage than they have already done.

To say it is not worth the fight, is to have already given up.

“Why do we still have freepers supporting Trump?”

Because he can get elected and prioritizes what counts.

Unicorns are beautiful, if you like that kind of thing, but you will waste your time trying to find one to put in a zoo...

Why?

What kind of judges do you think Ted Cruz will nominate?

Do you think that the senate will confirm Ted Cruz’s judges?

LOL Canada Free Press has been around for awhile. It is heavily conservative and it promotes conservative values. If you read the article in its entirety, it does not bash Trump. Just basically says that this election is extremely important and the Supreme Court needs to be a major consideration.

That's just silly. Cruz supported Robers at the time he was nominated. And rightfully so. When nominated, Roberts had an unquestionably conservative, strict constructionist record. There was no hint of the betrayal that would come years later. So, Cruz (and every other conservative legal scholar) supported him. Now that Roberts has betrayed us all, Cruz has called him out.
