Here's your Happy Friday video for you hunters.
You've heard of the debate gun vs a knife in close quarter battle. The twenty-one foot rule comes to mind for those in the LE role, which means at that distance you should have ample time to react and draw your pistol. The main thing about it is when sh!t hits the fan, and the guy with the knife is upon you, you must fight hand to hand prior to having to pull out your pistol.
Man vs Cat
The excerpt image above from a video shows this fella defending against a leopard. Looks like he's carrying a revolver (not sure though), and he already has it drawn prior to being attacked. Just a note the background of the story is unknown, watch the full video and see it "as is".

He hesitated. Should have fired just before the cat made contact.

From the video, no wonder the cat attacked. Just look at the shorts that guy is wearing.

Looks like Darwin in action to me. Not sure why a "hunter" is s'posed to be so happy about seeing an idiot get mauled.
But hey, as a hunter, that's just me. d:^)

If you’re close enough to touch the leopard the leopard is close enough to touch you.

I don’t care if he was holding a Ruger Alaskan firing 454 Casull... I’d want a s-ton of distance and a AR before screwing with a leopard (who also seems to be backed into a corner).
Hope the dude is alright and this was an unplanned encounter.

I have been watching a show called
The Best Defense on the Outdoor Channel. It's very instructive & at a minimum, it gets you to 'think' about various scenarios & what you might do if confronted with them. During the last show, the instructor had some training exercises (using a handgun) and I can tell you, I'll be giving them a try the next time I'm out shooting. Watching this video, the instruction probably would have helped this guy out.

He forgot the revolver was single action.

Pound for pound a leopard is one of the strongest cats out there. That guy was really lucky. Poking a leopard with a stick is also not recommended. The stick poking starts around 0:51
