The Russian-Turkish conflict in Syria is not going to be an easy one for either party. Russia wants to punish Turkey for its menace in Syria. So Russia threatens to cripple Turkey by cutting-off the gas supplies. But this will also hurt Russiaâs economy. Muslim Azerbaijan will gladly provide Turkey with a new gas-hookup and this will bring the Turkic states closer to Istanbul and further from Moscow. On the other hand, the increasing Muslim global menace is the fire necessary for Christendom's refinement, unity, and even bringing Jerusalem (which no longer trusts Turkey) closer to Cyprus. This conflict is the new equilibrium that will create the neo-Ottoman hegemony to form the nations of Ezekiel 38.

I could never care less. It’s pop corn Time. Russia will win in 72 hours to my cheers and glee. Here is what I don’t want— 1 more dime of debt incurred over there . not one more good American Man. The whole region can knock itself out!! Close our borders and NUKE UP!!
Putin seeks to gain control of the Dardanelle Straits either through a controlling political influence or by seizure of the territories. Accomplishment of that objective opens many opportunities for Putin to coerce the Balkan nations, surround the Ukraine, provide captive markets for Russian oil and gas production, oil and gas revenues needed to fund military and naval budget appropriations, apply political pressure against the rulers of Saudi Arabia, and more.
I hope he makes it!! Good luck . We stay out!!
It could indeed come to answering Ted Cruz’s question of whether sand glows in the dark. Putin might give him an answer.
Even if Russia gets the Dardanelle they will still be bottled up in the Med, they will then need either Suez or Gibraltar or both.
Pivot out of the middle east and swing south to our south american friends. We’re on the same land mass. We just have to teach them that our way of corruption is better than their way.
“Even if Russia gets the Dardanelle they will still be bottled up in the Med, they will then need either Suez or Gibraltar or both.”
That is true as far as it goes. It neglects the usage of the Russian naval surface and air forces in support of political and military operations in Transnistria, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia, the other Balkan states, Albania, Italy, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia. Putin is looking to create opportunities to displace U.S. and Western influence in the Muslim states around the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Russia’s ostentatious use of their new naval cruise missiles is one of those elements to further such objectives designed to impress and influence the political allegiances of those nations.
Every Russian Tsar since Peter the Great has dreamt of controlling the Bosphorus and the Dardenells. Putin is no different.
I think Russia needs the natural gas sales in the current lower oil price market.
The Turks would never give up European Turkey—they would need to be brought down first. BUT if Putin could do it—his place in Russian History would be a great one. What would he do? Make it an independent Christian state? A new Byzantium? —a Russian protectorate? Would this spark WW III?
No telling where this all ends up. For certain the world is again facing a time of great instability.
