I know that we have been taught for the past two generations that Western Civilization is the locus of evil in the world, but I am one of the few unenlightened ones who know differently.
Our way of life has brought the majority of improvements in the economic, social, political and technological realms. And that progress and prosperity was made possible by our forebears who developed a system in which government being legitimized by a popular mandate [viz. freedom] can actually work w/o tearing itself apart -- well, not since lately, anyway.
So I think that our way of life is worth preserving -- and we need our people to actually be here for that to be possible. But, the only ones of European descent who are not building more coffins than cradles are the Mormons.
Given this, Europe needs the number of births to exceed those being buried in order to keep the massive social welfare states going.
So they find themselves allowing, and even subsidizing, people ingressing from an hostile, alien culture that is backward in every way -- to make up for their net population losses -- who do not value our culture and freedoms, expecting their hosts to assimilate to them, not the other way around.
On our present trajectory, due to demographics and the increasing popularity of unsustainable social, political and economic policies, Western Civilization does not survive this century. An apocalyptic series of wars, famines, epidemics, etc. beckon on our current path, leaving only a single-digit percentage of us in the end, fighting over bones, rags and rubble.
But, if we take what has been drilled into us by Western media, academia and the entertainment industry, that's a good thing, no?

Even Arabic numbers came from Indian Hindus. What they didn’t steal they destroy.
Two words mark the difference. Sewage treatment.
The west IS civilization. Along with the Far East like Japan and even though marxist, China and India. the rest, the Middle East, the Islamic Southeast Asia, North Korea and Africa is a pox on the planet. Wanna euthanize useless regions? Start there
As I see it, there are several reasons why the birthrate is where it is for Western civilization. 1. Atheism 2. Feminism & 3.The invention of “the pill”.
The invention of “the pill” is the worst thing to happen to western civilization since it allowed both men & women to fornicate inside of, or outside of marriage without the consequences of children. Because of that some men & women never mature.
Feminism naturally taught women that to be successful in life, they must go get a job, and one that pays better than men, instead of getting married & starting a family.
And atheism is why the abortion industry is what it is today. If women truly believed in God, they wouldn’t be able to abort their babies. Instead, since some women don’t believe in God, they abort their babies as an “inconvenience” since it would interfere with their sex lives. I probably should have listed abortion as number 4, but I see abortion as a symptom of atheism.
I look forward to replies telling me whether I’m correct, or whether I missed anything.

You pretty-well hit it. As someone who went to college in the 60s, I saw sex converted from something special between a man and a woman to a boy function, right up there with taking a dump.

The answer to this query provides the motivation of progressive politics, including Marxism, Socialism, Communism, Totalitarianism, most Fascism, modern Liberalism, Environmentalism, Eugenics, and other assorted thuggeries. The answer is simply power and control.
Whether by an exaggerated belief in their own importance or a criminal intent to dominate, they are each and all antithetic to freedom and human dignity.
So the next time you run into someone who supports Hillary thank them for reminding you that they are contemptuous of everything that blesses your (and their) life.
I think you are right, I would add materialism to the list. As one who has a larger than “normal” family I can tell you that almost all comments we get are about the cost. When I had only four Kids i mentioned to my fellow bible study members that I was struggling with our decision to be done having kids. IIRC, I was even crying. I remember exactly what the well meaning slightly older woman said to help “College isn’t free, and you already have a lot to pay for”. Every point she went on to make related to finances.
They obviously have more than us: a house they built on a lovely acreage, nicer clothes, cars, vacations etc. All of that is so much more important to most Christians than being fruitful and multiplying. We are far from wealthy but our kids have more than they need, have learned the value of work at an early age , bring joy to many people and, hopefully, will be raising their future children for the Lord.
You make a very good point. I agree, a lot of Americans are very materialistic.
