In France, they would also be worried about a rogue citizen putting up a fight once the country surrenders to the latest conqueror. That might spoil business as usable, the clubs and collaboration with the enemy.

Better not to take the chance, and ban weapons from the citizens.

Totally agree with you...100%

I guess my real point, now that I’ve read your comment and others is, I’ve seen what are considered highly trained people, perform not so highly. I hear so many people talk about getting guns. They go buy it. They shoot it a few times. Then it sits in a box or nightstand. They’ll take it out a few times a year, maybe, and go to the indoor range. They hit the paper from 5 yards away and they think they’re Martin Riggs.

Now the situation in Paris is unique, especially in the theater. The bad guys were up high. You’re correct. If about 25+ plus had turned around and started firing that would have ended much, much, much differently.

People like to talk about their RIGHT to carry as opposed to their PRIVILEGE to drive. Here’s one thing I’ve noticed. No matter how bad the driver, they can stop the car or turn the car out of the way. No matter how bad the shooter, that bullet isn’t stopping until it hits something and it isn’t turning.

I do not work for a gun manufacturer, ammunition manufacturer or own a range...But, having one on your hip, in your pocket, in your purse, strapped to your ankle is an awesome responsibility and one that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

They would have been safer if they “restricted” Muslims (border entry) or banned explosive belts.

If they’re not here, in the United States, then they cannot do us harm here.

When those of us who advocated a similar set of restrictions (exclusion, quarantine) to keep the Ebola virus out of the US, we were considered harsh, unfeeling, etc.

Well, Ebola got in. It didn't get far, but it got in.

If you can't get people to recognize that precautions can prevent a deadly disease (about 50% kill rate in the outbreak overall), how in Heaven's Name are you going to get them to recognize that a few thousand out of 100,000 "immigrants" could sow the seeds of mayhem all over this country before they are hunted down and eliminated.

I'm with you. Close the gates, then background check anyone let in, Muslim or not.

Of course the Obama Administration will let them in. He needs mayhem in the next year to accomplish his goals which include disarmament of the population and to be President for life (Martial Law, suspended elections). Gotta have a crisis to not let it go to waste, and they (DHS, et. al.) are not beyond manufacturing one.

That gun control sure worked for the victims.

Two thoughts come to mind in a situation like that.

First, you're dead already. If you haven't been in a situation where you have accepted that, you're lucky, but in that situation, that has to be your mindset (don't let that stop you from seeking cover).

Second, (mentally) you will spend your last breath buying time for others to get out of there, and taking out as many of your attackers as you can.

When the sun is shining again, you thank The Almighty for getting you through--especially if you are unhurt.

But, having one on your hip, in your pocket, in your purse, strapped to your ankle is an awesome responsibility and one that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Absolutely. When you get that CCW permit, you have embraced the awesome responsibility for the life of those around you as well as your own well being. You will have to decide whether to take a shot, to unravel a situation so you don't shoot the wrong party, to make sure you don't hit innocents behind the perp, to NOT take the shot in some (most) situations, even whether or not to draw your weapon.

It is huge.

You 'what if' during your idle moments, observing people around you. It's a whole different mindset than just diddy bopping through life and expecting a piece of hardware to keep you safe.

Like NYC or any one of many of our cities in the U.S., perhaps?

I just saw a photo of the Parisian cops. They were armed with RUGER Mini-14 rifles.

When the Ruger Minii-14 came on the market back in the mid 1970s I bought one. Then all Mini-14s disappeared from the shelves for many years.
Then one day there was a riot in Paris and I saw the police were using Rugers. I later found that all Rugers at that time were being sent to France.

Hitler-y & Bernie want to make us sitting ducks; which we
would be if these Muslim terrorists caught us forbidden to
carry a gun. - As it us now, if a terrorist puts on a mask
& jihadist tough guy clothes & comes into a building where
Christians are meeting, he does not know WHO in the crowd
might be packing a weapon or how quick he will be dispatched
by a bullet to his Muzzie brain where he may or may not be
united with his 72 Perpetual Virgins, depending on what
kind of a mood allah is in that particular day & his moods
vary depending on which side of the bed he got up on that
morning!

Agree with your final statements, but I’m sure sure the ones killed in the concert hall would rather have died firing than cowering for their life. And maybe, just maybe, someone gets lucky and kills the bad guy before they blow up the vest. 1 shot is better than none.

Besides the Mini14s there was a pic of a cop with what looked like an M3 grease gun.

Absolutely...100%

But, if the people and the leaders that they elect had the common sense of a pile of horsesh*t, they wouldn’t allow 16% of their population to be islamic savages and be willing to take on even more, they probably wouldn’t be dealing with these problems.

Humorous... two very well-armed cities... legally or otherwise
