Yesterday Trump called Politico dishonest. Today he is spreading their Ben Carson lie.

RedState's own Leon Wolf did a great job exposing the Politico story about Ben Carson and West Point as a lie. Washington Post reporter Dave Weigel is also churning out great information on Twitter regarding the story.

I want to focus on what Donald Trump is doing with the story, however.

Yesterday, November 5, Donald Trump had this to say about Politico:

Look, Politico is so dishonest in so many different things. This Politico website or whatever the hell they call it, I mean, they write about me. We don't deal with them anymore because the level of dishonesty is incredible.

Today, November 6, Donald Trump is spreading the false Politico story about Ben Carson. Below is one of the several Trump Tweets citing the Politico piece.

What an incredible turnaround. It appears Trump is willing to do whatever it takes to destroy Carson, who is poised to disrupt his position as GOP frontrunner.

Yesterday, Trump seized on the silly CNN investigation of Carson's childhood. According to Trump, Carson's childhood might be a "total fabrication.?

Ironically, much of Trump's support is due to the perception that he tells the truth and shuns the mainstream media. It is now clear that he will abandon that notion when it suits him politically.

It’s funny that Red State, which has never fact checked anything for Trump in their life, are now trying to pump up the Pro-TPP, Mannatech Ben Carson, then say that Trump will “do everything to destroy Carson.” The irony.

Nov 6, 2015 via Real Clear Politics:

“Ben Carson may be flying high in the polls for now, but he can’t win the Republican nomination.

That’s according to more than 80 percent of Republicans in this week’s POLITICO Caucus, our survey of the top strategists, operatives and activists in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada...........

I threw in Rush’s segment to help you with that “problem.”

Here are 2 more from Rush’s show yesterday (making it 3 segments about this lynching).

Ted Cruz said nice things about Carson and he said nice things about Bush and he said nice things about all the candidates at the last debate....I find it very refreshing..I have yet to see the appeal of Trump

Your post reflects your inability to account for the inappropriate (certainly expected) piling on by Trump.

I was hoping this was not true and that the tweet was a re-tweet or one off error...but it appears it is true.

I am not a trump supporter, but I believe this damages the entire race on the right. It is uncouth....(best word I could come up with in a jiffy)

I don't know if any of the accusations against Dr. Carson are true or false, but I do think that they are designed to focus the Republican candidates on each other instead of the damage wrought by Obama and how to fix this mess. Getting the Republicans to turn on each other shifts the focus away from Hillary and Bernie.

The media is instigating this controversy and taking great delight watching the Republicans eat their own. Who knows how much of this controversy is being fostered by the Democrats or by the GOPe looking to eliminate conservative candidates in order to get the nomination for Jeb or maybe squishy Rubio.

The Republican candidates should not take the bait. Let the voters decide who is or isn't lying

I don’t know yet.

I’m watching and learning - character counts.

I supported and voted for Cruz here in Texas.

And the politics of personal destruction is a big problem for me, so of course Trump has no support from me (not to mention that he supported the Democratic Leadership who are still on the Hill and instrumental in helping Obama transform America - the one Trump NOW wants to make “great again”).

I would not be too snarky. This could/will hurt Trump in the long run.

I noticed you did not say what Carson wrote in his OWN BOOK.

Carson in his own book says he was “offered” a scholarship to West Point.

One can be “offered” a scholarship to many universities.

However, no one is “offered” a scholarship to West Point.
You apply. Then nominated. Then either appointed or not appointed.

So what Carson wrote in his own book is untrue.

Well you have to admit having to prove you tried to stab a relative with a knife only to have the blade break off on his belt buckle and seriously considering attacking your mother with a hammer are odd things to brag about.

Politico is a horrible site :-(
They are obvious GOPee/Demo propagandists.

It pains me to admit it but you are right, Trump should know better than to jump on a bandwagon pulled by the likes of Politico :-(

I’m no hypocrite, when you are right I will say you are right.

That said, some of the stuff coming from Carson is just weird.

Up to today, while I could not support Trump, I did not dislike him.

This could give me cause to do so and if I see it that way then so do many others who view the attacks on Kim Davis, and Ben Carson to be media related and their sycophants.

If we have people on our side who cannot see the real enemy here, then we have a problem.
