(CNN) - In a revived push to boost the minimum wage and influence the 2016 elections, fast food workers are planning a nationwide strike this coming Tuesday.
Workers from 270 cities are expected to walk out on their jobs, demanding a living wage of $15 an hour and the right to unionize.
At the same time, thousands of protesters are expected to make their voices heard Tuesday at the Republican presidential debate in Milwaukee...

Gee. I didn’t know they had a union...
The unions will simply destroy another segment of the economy and end up with nothing.
“Those restaurants make a lot of money man!” “They should have to pay more for the helpers.”
Mexican guy working on the roof of the barn said that to me today as he was wolfing down a Jack in the Box burger at lunch time.
Coming soon: fully automated buger chains, courtesy of the American labor movement.
Just fire them all. No problem. Hire entry level young people and the problem will be solved. No one should make a career out of being a “fries guy.”
They should all go find them a job that pays them $15 per hour. No one is keeping them from leaving. The problem is that they’re not worth $15 to anyone else.
Fire their asses.
Here in Maine on Tuesday, there was a local initiative on the ballot in Portland, Maine which would have raised the minimum wage to fifteen dollars per hour in the city.
Portland, Maine is very liberal, so many people....myself included....were surprised when the initiative failed to pass by a substantial margin.
Jercoughs gonna ruin their gig. What they’ll find beneath fast food, nobody wants to know...or see.
Apprentice electrician $10.05 - $18.44
Apprentice Plumber $9.85 - $18.44
Apprentice Carpenter $10.14 - $21.45
Apprentice Machinist $11.98 - $22.73
Apprentice Mechanic $10.01 - $18.78
Apprentice Welder $12.00 - $18.00
And these people think they should get $15.00 for flipping burgers, stuffing tacos, rolling burritos and saying "Hi, may I help you"(which you usually can't understand because they can't speak English. Absolutely they deserve more money then skilled trade apprentices....NOT! These jobs they perform were never ever meant to provide a living wage, they are called entry level jobs for a reason.
They don't want to work for an honest days work then boycott and shut em down!!!
As usual....most of the protesters will NOT be fast food workers.
let ‘em walk. Everyone can live without a burger and fries for a day
If they get paid double what they are being paid now, will that double the chances they will get my order right?
If they get paid double what they are being paid now, will that double the chances they will get my order right?
These jobs are not permanent famliy jobs. Except for the manager and asst mgr, posibly. Never were designed to be.
Entry level jobs, not family supporting jobs.
You dont blame the employer, why dont the people who dont have skills to move on to higher jobs take responsibility for their own situation?
Difference is the main demographics that make up these unskilled workers. They arent asians and whites.
