...Amir immediately jumped up and turned to my son and said: You know who your father is? Your father is my hero. I have 50 pairs of his shoes, Mr. Poopat said with a laugh.
The sneakers, which sell for about $400 a pair, are carried by more than 200 retailers worldwide, including department stores like Barneys and Beams International Gallery in Japan, forward-leaning emporiums such as Dover Street Market and Totokaelo, and digital hubs like Mr Porter and the Line.

It’s insane! I bought a pair of sneakers, very much like the pair pictured above, at Walmart for $14.99.
Special shoes for folks who are light in their loafers?
400 dollars for plain sneakers? Doesn’t even have a lift on the back. That helps my sore feet.
Meh. They can’t beat a broken-in pair of Piloti driving shoes.
I still prefer my leather work boots from Duluth Trading.
I Poopat your general direction!!
I don’t spend $400 in a year on shoes for my six kids. Maybe will get close as my boys need good shoes for sports.
But the guy in the article owns 50 pair? $20,000 in sneakers!! What a fool.
My brother’s wife had 80 pairs of Vans.
He had to go out and buy them.
Then he had to go out and buy special storage boxes for them.
Then he had to buy shelving units to house them.
My brother is working class filth like me so he can’t afford that.
Unlike me, he does not take care of his stuff.
My brother and his wife are the most wasteful people I’ve ever seen.
Who needs 80 pairs of shoes? And they’re ugly to boot.
I get everything except underwear and shoes from the thrift store.
SMH.
Status symbols.
Made in China bullshit markup.
No kidding! For $400, you would think that the shoes would look better.
Our thrift store has punch cards-spend enough and get $10 in store credit...love it! My daughters even look forward to shopping there. I’m so blessed :-).
Your poor brother. He’s stressing out so she can store up treasures on earth. Very sad. I heard something on a kids radio program years ago,” the more you possess, the more your possessions possess you”. Sounds like your brother is proof of that.
I think she runs over him.
Nothing I can do about it though.
Poor guy.
I haven’t worn a sneaker in over 15 years. My favorite shoes are R.M. Williams boots. The Blundstone boots are great walking and hiking boots as well.
When Warren Sapp (what an appropriate name) filed for bankruptcy, he listed among very few assets 200 pairs of Air Jordan’s.
They’re not athletic shoes...more like street shoes. I think they are sleek and beautiful, hopefully they’re also very comfortable. Look, if people have the money to spend on these... why not?
In general, urbanites are not spending their freed up cash on home stuff... they live in apartments.
Then there’s the fashionistas... might not be your thing, but I think it’s great there’s a market for everything!
That’s what sneakers looked like in the ‘60s...’70s. @15 bucks max.
Unbelievable.
