Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) was once seen as a potential dark horse in the GOP presidential primary, but a New York Times report attributed to "three Republicans familiar with his decision, who spoke on condition of anonymity" suggested he plans to drop out of the race Monday evening. Walker has a news conference scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Times' Patrick Healy and Alexander Burns wrote that Walker "concluded he no longer has a path to the Republican presidential nomination and plans to drop out of the 2016 campaign." Walker's campaign did not respond to multiple requests for comment from Business Insider.

The non-GOPe candidates, IMHO, stand most to benefit poll-wise.
He may indeed be better where he is, until Trump can name him SecLab.
Although, with all his union dealings, I’m sure The Donald knows some tough anti-union right-twerkers himself.
Scott walker was among the very few acceptable alternatives to Trump, for me. Sad to see he is leaving the race. He had little choice.
Did Ronald Reagan fund his own campaign? Had Ronald Reagan ever put an organization into Bankruptcy? Donald Trump is a totally different kind of leader that we haven’t really seen since George Washington.
I like him mostly but the Big Dog is Trump. It’s just how it is.
Well said.
To quote the fire lady, "Ain't nobody got time for that."
Would much rather have heard that Graham, Kasich, and Bush had dropped out.
Walker is a good man he just doesn’t have the charisma a Presidential candidate needs these days. And of course the ridiculous “debate” process didn’t help him either.
Surprised he was #2 to go down.
I wonder if the field will thin quickly now.
Personally I think it’s too soon. Especially for someone who has a real record and not just rhetoric.
I love how he stood up to teachers/unions.
We are still more than a year away. There are others who would better drop out now.
Walker’s a good guy.
He should have been President as a reward for having put up with the criminal DA Chisholm.
As he goes home to Wisconsin he should have the entire Republican party behind him in an effort to remove Chisholm and imprison him for his abuse of power in trying to intimidate and imprison his political opposition.
He didn’t get the amnesty importance, and was obviously told not to take it too far by the national party types.
That was a critical mistake. Unfortunately Mr. Trump already capitalized on it.
Hopefully we haven’t seen the last of young Mr. Walker.
Walker is a good man— they need him there in Wis. Keep the good work going over there Scott-— a winner no matter dropping out of the race.
Just as you predicted.
Time for a bunch more to go.
It came down to campaign cash.
The only candidates with the cash are Trump, Bush, and Ted Cruz.
The money dried up. No money, no campaign.
Time to go now and preserve options for the future. In fact, this shows a side of his character that make him even more attractive next time, and that’s a sense of perspective about one’s self that far too many politicians don’t have.
Though, Sec. of Labor would be a lovely spot for him.
Whatever he’s going to say will be live on the Vicky McKenna show WNIB am 1310 Madison at 5pm CDT not 6pm. Unless listening in the eastern time zone. He could also suspend his campaign which is what he might be doing. Because that allows him to collect funds to pay off expences and even jump back in.
I, too, am rather disheartened to see Scott Walker drop out, as I have been a supporter since he was still fighting to keep his job as governor when the recall was going on. Not the party, and not the political action committee, but directly to Scott Walker himself.
I still believe in him, but I now look forward to his future engagement with national issues, perhaps at the Cabinet level, or possibly a place in the US Senate. The liberal mob organizers threw their very worst at him and he fended them off. That counts for something.
Exactly my sentiments. Sad to see him pull out, but I hope he will hone his skills for the future.
He’d be a fantabulous Sec. of Labor in the Trump/Cruz administration.I’d like to see him do what he needs to do and then shut down the department, just like Palin over at Energy.
I’m sorry to see Walker go, as I was hoping to kind of keep him in reserve. But maybe it’s better if the conservative options dwindle and the Establishment field stays large. (Though they’re trying to palm Carson, Fiorina and Rubio off on us as outsiders or a conservative.)
“Hed be a fantabulous Sec. of Labor in the Trump/Cruz administration.Id like to see him do what he needs to do and then shut down the department, just like Palin over at Energy.”
Yes, he could shut down the department in his second term of SOL, making that department SOL?:)
