Many of the descendants of North American slaves have a delusion that slavery was only about white people owning black people. The fact is that Africans were capturing, enslaving and selling each other for centuries before Christopher Columbus discovered a new market for African slave traders. Africans continued to enslave each other after the end of North American slavery. There are numerous reports that Africans still practice slavery.

I wonder if the descendants of American slaves are doing anything to end slavery in Africa?

Also, why do so many Blacks tend to convert to islime? They renounce the religion of those who owned their ancestors and embrace the religion of those who, in many cases, still own AND sell their brethren. Yeah, stick it to the White man by biting off their collective noses to spite their faces, makes sense.

A tiny fraction of the slave trade to the new world came to the colonies. The vast majority (more than 90%) went to the islands in the Caribbean and to South America.

When I see a title like “The Truth About Slavery” I am reminded of a guy who tried to convince me that he was taught in his Texas high school that a lot of the slaves in America came here as volunteers because they wanted so badly to leave Africa. I have occasionally passed that one on - as a joke.

All of which is a brief blip in the history of man as related to slavery. The ones who hold the record for being slaves and held in captivity goes to the descendants of Israel. Tell that one to the Reverend Race Baiting Poverty Pimps and watch their heads nearly explode in anger.

“Did You Know the First Legal Slave Owner in America Was a Black Man?”

Here’s something you won’t read about in the US history books. The first legal slave owner in America was black and he owned white slaves.

Anthony Johnson (BC 1600 – 1670) was an Angolan who achieved freedom in the early 17th century Colony of Virginia.

Johnson was captured in his native Angola by an enemy tribe and sold to Arab (Muslim) slave traders. He was eventually sold as an indentured servant to a merchant working for the Virginia Company.

Sometime after 1635, Antonio and Mary gained their freedom from indenture. Antonio changed his name to Anthony Johnson.

In 1651 Anthony Johnson owned 250 acres, and the services of four white and one black indentured servants. The black indentured servant John Casor (Casar, Cazarao and Corsala) demanded that Johnson release him after his seven years of indenture.

In March of 1654, according to Delmarva Settlers, Anthony’s servant, a man named John Casar requested that Johnson release him from his indenture because it had long expired past the usual seven years. Johnson replied that he knew of no indenture and that Casar was to be his servant for life. Anthony Johnson’s neighbors, George and Robert Parker, stated that they knew of another indenture for the said Casar to a planter on the other side of the bay.

Only about 3% of African slaves were sent to North America.

The vast majority went to Brazil and the Caribbean.

I had this as a textbook in Economic History in the late 70s. I got to meet the authors as they were friends of my professor.

Many American Negros are like Dr. Ben Carson, lovely and well educated....far too many other American Negros still live on political plantations and belong to organizations like The Nation of Islam...they are crippled by government handouts/plantations...they are not stupid but they make really bad choices and wind up (like this)

I can’t imagine that Black people actually don’t get that they aren’t the only people to ever be enslaved-they are just the ones that civilization really took notice of, due to a developing news cycle and increased mobility of people in the Americas.

I doubt that the majority of people know that after the conquest, the Spaniards brought slaves from Africa to South/Central America and the Caribbean Islands to work the mines and plantations alongside the Natives/Indians they had subjugated-which means that my ancestors from Spain enslaved some of my Native ancestors-should I-and all mestizos get reparations from Spain?

Then there is that matter of the British and something called indentured servitude-should the descendants of British indentured servants get reparations from Britain? The whole notion of “reparations” is ridiculous-if it were to be strictly followed, most European countries-including Britain-would be suing Italy-as the seat of the Roman Empire-for reparations...

No nation, even until the last couple of centuries was innocent of allowing the buying and selling of their fellow humans, or regarding them as spoils of war to be enslaved-to think otherwise is totally foolish-civilized people no longer allow that, but some countries in Africa still condone slavery, mostly the ones with a Muslim majority-we hear about it all the time, but not one race-hustler or liberal politician seems terribly concerned...

The people that bought them, for the most part, were Christians. And after centuries of working in the sugar cane and cotton plantations at their owners will, their descendants still call themselves Christians.
