The true history of the Iraq War and the rise of ISIS that Obama and Hillary can't deny
Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush got it right regarding Iraq in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Tuesday night. That premature withdrawal was the fatal error, creating the void that ISIS moved in to fill, he declared. Where was the secretary of state, Secretary of State Clinton, in all of this? Like the president himself, she had opposed the surge, then joined in claiming credit for its success, then stood by as that hard-won victory by American and allied forces was thrown away.
Unsurprisingly, Hillary Clinton senior policy adviser and former State Department aide Jake Sullivan leaped to Clintons defense. This is a pretty bold attempt to rewrite history and reassign responsibility, he said. They cannot be allowed to escape responsibility for the real mistake here. They might hope well all forget, but the American people remember.

Jeb is right about this, but so what?
The fact is, the words Iraq and Bush in any sentence together is an electoral negative.
This is not an issue that’s a winner for any Bush in any election anywhere, regardless of the truth of his words in this instance.
He’s the wrong messenger. And he’s so wrong about so many other things that being right about this doesn’t mean anything to me.
I personally urge Jeb to hang it up, quit the race. Do something more productive with your time, Jeb. Go away.
I tried to read that wall of text about Jeb. I really did. I couldn’t make it past a single paragraph. Bush fatigue is a real phenomenon.
The "vacuum"? Is Jeb saying what we did was just fine; we should've set up a forever empire? Meanwhile, the US is still working to get rid of Assad, who defends Christians and other minorities. Jeb's okay with that? With giving ISIS a corridor to the Med?
Epitomizes is misspelled in the title.
Jeb is on the right track here, but neither he nor any of our other guys is yet drawing blood with it. We need to. The quotes that should be hammered home are Obama's, as he was preening and posturing about the brilliant success in Iraq, as part of his case for the withdrawal. OBAMA deemed Iraq a success. We need to turn this into his "mission accomplished" moment. The left wants to pop this down the memory hole and argue today, in the wake of a disaster, that the war was unwinnable from the start, and therefore everything is Bush's fault. That is contradicted by their own man, who claimed a success, and then threw it away.
I totally agree. Jeb Bush under NO circumstances whatsoever will ever get my vote.
You are absolutely correct.
Jebbie doesn’t really want your vote. He said so a few months ago.
Jeb has said he does not want the vote of conservatives (some months back), and we should oblige him, as we have always done for requests from a “Bush”.
