Meet two Americans whose money was stolen by the IRS

The IRS’s Ill-Gotten Gains

I’ve told my story before of my dealings with the IRS – how they decided to audit me after I publicly criticized President Bill Clinton on national television and forced me to spend significant money on lawyers and accountants just to prove I had done nothing wrong. This is their game and they like to play it. There is no federal agency with more leeway to harass Americans who have broken no law and failed to pay no taxes.

So it’s hardly new that the IRS treats people badly, although the targeting of conservative organizations that has taken place under the Obama Administration has taken it to new heights.

They’re not done, though. Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported on two Americans who have had their money seized by the IRS simply because the government didn’t like the amounts of money they were withdrawing from their own bank accounts.

One of the planks in the campaign of Ted Cruz is to abolish the IRS.

If he were elected and did NOTHING else that would make him one of the three or four greatest presidents of all time.

How can the IRS steal your money...?

Your earnings belong to the government first and then they let you keep enough of it to not foment revolution...

Just ask any democrat/ liberal/ progressive and about 75 % of the GOPe

The GOPe could have made a lot of reforms but has done nothing and will do nothing in the future. Them and the Democrats are like two crime families fighting over territory. Anything that enhances control and plunder from that territory stays in place regardless of which gang takes over.

One of the planks in the campaign of Ted Cruz is to abolish the IRS.

I find lots of media sources that confirm that fact in interviews, but I did not find that fact on his Ted Cruz for President website...

I don't find a Ted Cruz platform where he put that as a plank....

Maybe I missed it in my google search...

The reason I like to see it in writing in an platform is I find it incredulous any Congress critter would ACTUALLY abolish the IRS...

The IRS is the 800 lb gorilla that funds the county...no congressman will put a bullet in it's head..

Typically that type of talk is red meat...with no chance of reality...

Amazing that these stories are almost entirely found in Canadian and British papers, not American.

You have a lot of cash.
That is suspicious.
We’re taking it on suspicion.
Maybe we let you have some back right now if you sign a ticket/confession and then stay quiet.
Fight it, and you don’t have due process or a free attorney paid by the state like if we arrested you. And it likely takes more than the money is worth to get it back.
So many people don’t fight it and put up with the theft or partial theft.

Yup...been there

Many years ago I was moving from Texas to Florida, handed my tax return over to a tax guy because I was way too busy to do them myself...

Completely forget about it, just assumed he filed for me...

Seven years later I start receiving IRS notices for that year claiming I never filed...

I had no records to back up my claim ..

The fines were 20 x more than I actually owed after seven years of building up...

I did manage to get them to cut the fine by 15 %, but it was a heck of lesson learned...

“Your earnings belong to the government first and then they let you keep enough of it ...”

That’s almost exactly what Bill Clinton said when he was president.

It is not your money, it is not your property, it is not your children. It all belongs to the community and managed by the state for good of everyone.

Theft is theft. It does not matter if it is done by thieves or government, and it should not be handled differently either.
