Bad ideas take a long time to die
Since the start of the 21st Century, the leftward lurch in Latin America has been unmistakable. By early 2008, the nations of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela, and, to a certain extent, Mexico and Peru, have all embraced center-left political parties or movements. The reason for the tilt is a familiar one: the siren song of government-mandated wealth redistribution and increased levels of social spending have resonated with people with a long history of economic and development troubles.
I think its difficult for conservative candidates to move forward because inequality is such an entrenched issue, said Ana Quintana, a Latin America expert at the Heritage Foundation in Washington. And its hard to implement free-market, institutional reforms when you need to make sure a significant portion of the population can get enough to eat.

Which side are we talking about? The left or the far-left?
Venezuela has become Cuba and brasil elected Communist Dilma as president, for as many elections as she can steal until forced out. They just don’t know that yet.
I guess they’ve seen how communism has made everyone so well off in Cuba.
There seems to be no difference these days. The “pinko” and even the “kumbaya liberal” shows his Stalinist side openly all too often now.
It’s seeped out in North America, too, much to our dislike. We’re all following the path to hell as started in Europe.
Did the Catholic clergy play a role in pushing for the socialism?
As Dennis Prager pointed out on his radio show, when you import hoardes of Latin American people, you are also importing Latin American political values.
