This passed in the last session of the NV state legislature. If you're looking for a culprit, it's state senator Tick Segerblom. He lifted the language entirely from California's statute.
Be aware that labor isn't taxed here, it's based upon the sale price you negotiated with the out-of-state seller.
They'll base tax on the actual purchase price. Have you got a receipt stating that the item you purchased cost $10? Or $1? Or that it was a gift from your cousin?
In any case, the fee you pay in tax ought to be nothing more than tax on what your local FFL charges for handling the out of state transfer and NICS check... and I'm not even sure that the NICS check is taxable.

Cops: There was only two of them. Why did you have to fire 10 shots?
Proper response: Because I feared for my life and 10 rounds were all the ammunition my clip held. or
They didn't stop trying to kill me until the 10th shot.

I'd be carrying something bigger than a .22 caliber. My normal carry pistol is the Glock 23. It's .40 S&W round will put a much bigger hole in an attacker. When carrying the Glock 23 is not feasible, I carry a Ruger LCP. It's a .380, which is smaller than I would like to carry, but the Hornaday Critical Defense rounds are pretty good at penetrating and then expanding, and it's better than nothing.

I am...come within 1 foot of me in a threatening manner and I assure you that you will regret it.I don't doubt it and hope I'd respond the same if in the same situation. I guess I think there is more to the story.

Have you ever been involved in a personal life saving incident where you had to discharge your firearm at an attacker literally feet in front of you when your body has been flooded with adrenalin? No and hope I never am. As I mentioned to another poster, I think that there is more to the story. Maybe I read too much Abood.

If any aggressor gets within a foot of you, you're dead..........

.come within 1 foot of me in a threatening manner and I assure you that you will regret it. If any aggressor gets within a foot of you, you're dead.......... I am an ex- corrections officer and there were threats to me as close as 1 foot very often....yes, I was roughed up twice but in other instances, the perps regretted their violent attacks very rapidly. We were pretty well trained and learned techniques that would really get your attention and would hurt A LOT....
