Some viewers of Jurassic World are taking offense to the film, calling one of the lines in the movie "racist." Specifically, the abbreviation of the dinosaur Pachycephalosaurus.
During the course of the film, the Pachycephalosaurus escape from their enclosures, leading one character to shout, "The Pachys are out of containment!" This has led news outlets and Twitter users to call the film "racist."
A British comedian originally brought attention to the line, offering a tongue-in-cheek rant against the dinosaur's name. However, people did not get the joke, and are actually calling the film racist.
The Independent called the line "very racist." The Huffington Post called it "accidental racism." Yahoo News called it "unintentional, but very racist." The Irish Examiner called it "unintentional racism."

Pretty funny. I bet not two Americans in 100 are familiar with the racist slur Paki.
Thank goodness I saw this film before the members from the Church of the Perpetually Offended got to it. But now, my DVD collection might be sullied, as I’ll want to purchase this to complete the collection. The makers of Jurassic World might feel the need to censor itself to appease these delusional idiots.
” I bet not two Americans in 100 are familiar with the racist slur Paki.”
I am!
They could change the name to Chinkycephalosaurus.
If you and I were in the same hundred we’d have just beaten the odds.
Ive heard the Paki slur and jokes before
Or Crackercephalosaurus.
Why don’t they just take a shortcut and say everything is racist?
Paki and Pachy, no difference at all morons.
I bet they’re glad that they didn’t include the Fudge Pachyderm in the movie. Imagine the swooning and gnashing of teeth over that one.
I got news for you, they already have.
If you look hard enough, you can find racism anywhere.
Sad. Life’s too short to engage in such self abuse.
OK, that seems to make four of us. :)
But, seriously, stand on the corner and ask 100 people. What do you think you’d get?
I read a lot, including a lot of British books and newspapers. But most Americans don’t. Americans and Brits, for instance, interacting on a story involving “Asians,” are hilarious.
Americans think the word means East Asians, Brits are as firmly convinced it means South Asians. Incoherence and hilarity ensues.
Why is it considered a slur?
Or gookapotamus.
CC
It’s short for Pakistani. I doubt that originally it was a slur, just an abbreviation, but some started taking it as offensive, much like Jap.
Utterly non-controversial words like “Oriental” have been denounced as racist slurs, despite the fact that Oriental simply means Easterner, which doesn’t seem any more racist than Westerner, Southerner or Northerner, none of which are considered racist.
