Obama Decree Gives Western Landowners the Bird
The American Spectator ^ | June 15, 2015 | Bette Grande

Posted on 06/16/2015 1:17:49 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

The Obama administration is establishing new to limits on public land uses in 10 Western states to protect the habitat of the ground dwelling greater sage grouse. The federal efforts are an attempt to prevent a continued decline in sage grouse numbers which could necessitate listing the sage grouse as threatened or endangered. The new limits are the federal government's biggest land-planning effort to date to conserve a single species.

The proposal would affect energy development. Among other actions, the regulations would require oil and gas wells to be clustered in groups of a half-dozen or more to avoid scattering them across habitat of the greater sage grouse. Drilling near breeding areas would be prohibited during mating season, and power lines would be moved away from prime habitat to avoid serving as perches for raptors who prey on sage grouse.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service faces a court-ordered deadline of Sept. 30 to decide whether the greater sage grouse needs protection as a threatened or endangered species. The deadline largely became moot when President Obama signed last year’s cromnibus spending bill including a provision withholding funding to implement any listing until September 2016....

Congressional Republicans’ criticized the new regulations as unnecessary federal overreach. For instance, Rep. Rob Bishop (R-UT), chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee , said, "This is just flat out wrong.”

“The state plans work,” said Bishop. “This proposal is only about controlling land, not saving the bird.” .......

we wont survive 19 months at this rate!!!

The scary part is there is a poll out there showing a large number of liberals wanting obummer to ignore supreme court rulings they dont like.
Of course, overturning gay marriage bans by the court, the were happy with.
I hate them.

No doubt that invading army of undocumented democrats will find that sage grouse finger lickin' good!

Good point.

Maybe they’ll even be cooked (courtesy of “green” solar farms).

The Obama Administration’s animal worship is as goofy as that of the locals. But show me the “landowners,” who own the “public land.” I’ve seen some great, old ranchers robbed by the English saddle types now in control of some of those permits, thanks to crazy and unconstitutional state animal protection laws.

And the only “industry” affected is the tourism and federal pork industry (environmentalist phonies). Granted, the energy easements for power lines should stay, but they are probably already left unmolested.

We in the West don’t own all of the land that we see. We only own what we’ve bought. And as for state and county governments, they should stop planning and building requirements for homeowner-builders, repeal local zoning laws against small manufacturing shops and drop the crazy property taxes against small businesses. And find some real work to do themselves.

All sides in such political struggles are socialist. That’s why the economic collapse is near.

Those that are not pureed by the turbines.

Mountain bluebirds and rosy finches like to perch on my PV solar modules and laugh at talk about being roasted by them.

Yes, what can mere oil pump stations do that compares to the destructive power of windmills and solar farms?

Here's an amusing thread about a PV solar plant.

California formally opens large solar plant
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3255812/posts

And some info.

How do Photovoltaics Work?
http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2002/solarcells/

I don't have an option. There are no power lines for several miles that a customer can hook up to. How do I like PV solar power? Great! Costs are only much lower than rural electric company costs, because I did some study, select components and install myself, though. Professionally installed plants are often expensive and inefficient. And rural power prices are high.

"Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project"

Now that's a mirror and boiler plant. Those do reflect heat and require mechanical maintenance.

You might want to share your design, and complete install for those of us still married to the grid. My experience is with an RV with one inadequate panel to charge the battery. I’ve often thought of adding an additional panel to actually be able to charge the battery rather than just reduce the amount of discharge. Lighting needs to be changed to LED, to begin the transition, and running the air off the battery is not going to work, but lighting, computer and occasional water pump usage are easily run off the battery.

What you probably need more than a design is a set of links to information and actual components that are available and best for mobile applications (RVs), *but that might look like advertising here* (though I’ll get no pecuniary benefit at all out of it). I’ll try to remember to make a list of links to a vendor site that also help with technical details and send them in a more private message tomorrow afternoon. If you don’t see the links before sundown, feel free to remind me.

I can also include a few general, rough design tips (sizing and the like), but I’ll need to know what part of the world or part of the country you’re in and a rough guess on sun days per year for the location. Send a private message about that.

There are online manuals and/or specifications (usually in Adobe Acrobat files: PDFs) for many of the components, by the way. It’s easy stuff, really, but only if you follow safety instructions and general electrical installation safety practices.
