Good to know. I visited the library w/ some of my grandkids some years ago and it was a great day.
I had to respond to one hateful email from one of the bosses and told him that even though he didn’t agree with Reagan on issues, he should at least show some respect for him. He replied and did apologize to me.
When he died, our house’s back yard in Simi Valley bordered the Reagan Library land. I walked to the corner of Presidential and Madera as soon as I heard the news, and by that time, bouquets of flowers already had been placed next to the Library sign. An hour later, there were traffic jams, and the signs and flowers had accumulated for yards from the corner along both streets. Of course, as the days passed the memorials grew.
On the day of the funeral, our subdivision was in lock-down mode; Secret Service agents were riding horses along the ridge keeping watch with binoculars. They strung barrier tape across the road where Eisenhower dead-ends on to Presidential and we were allowed to stand and pay our respects as the procession went up to the Library. It was so sad; not a dry eye among the residents.
I have quite a few of Reagan's speeches on my iPod. I used to enjoy them a lot.
Now, they just depress me. The contrast between that America and this one is too stark. Listening to his words against the backdrop of this inanity of a once great nation is almost too much to stand.
That is pretty cool of people. I got into a “fight” over some idiot on here over Biden’s son....somebody here actually said he was glad he died. Can you imagine that? Especially since they claim to be a Christian conservative. I’d rather that person not be on our side.

This was the FREEPMAIL I got from this FREEPER if you can believe it.

am glad hes dead and I couldnt EVEN care less about his mil status or where he served - people die every day
What a sad day it was. Ronald Reagan was the person that helped America come back from the Nixon, Ford and Carter malaise. Now, we need Cruz to bring us back from Obama.
But mostly, I get inspired about how one man against such great odds accomplished so much. You will be too once you realize that he dealt with so many of the same problems which we are dealing with now.
Today is also the anniversary of the beginning of the Six Day War of 1967, and of the assassination one year later of Robert F. Kennedy by a Palestinian immigrant who was upset over Bobby’s support for Israel. I didn’t think at the time that RFK had any chance of getting the nomination in 1968. LBJ hated his guts and had enough clout to prevent that. If he hadn’t been killed he might have been the Democratic nominee in 1972. If so, he probably would have lost to Nixon.
People should stay classy. If I had responded to that email with reciprocal hateful speech, it wouldn’t have done any good. I would have just brought myself down to his level.
Yes and I am far from perfect but I try very hard to stay respectful to the deaths at least. Even trough Jane Fonda deserves every nasty remark possible while living I will REALLY TRY to shut my mouth the day she dies. And no it won’t be easy.
I was driving an airport van. I’d just dropped off a person in downtown Seattle. I turned on the radio and they were talking about President Reagan, but I didn’t know why. It wasn’t until several minutes later that they finally mentioned that he’d passed. I was quite sad.
I also remember that some Hollyweird actor...can’t remember who...said they had a bottle of champagne they had in cold storage for the day Reagan died. I hope it spoiled on them.
Oh yea!
I love that place. It really shows what a human being Ron Reagan was. One in 100,000,000.
