You can’t evaluate the assertion fairly until you have also evaluated the context.

Also please don’t twist the term “relativism.”

It is “relativism” to say that it’s better to lust than have an abortion, therefore I will give a free rein to lusting while execrating abortion and I have therefore made a wonderful tradeoff.

It is not “relativism” to point out (biblically) that all sins deal death to the soul of the sinner, which goes deeper than killing a body. As long as one does not go on to say that means it is okay to kill a body (because that’s a sin anyhow and one would have vitiated one’s own point).

Judge actions not hearts.

The man is an active late term abortionist and he's "comfortable" going to church and they receive him gladly as usher. I consider that action (by both parties) reprehensible. What was done to Ananias and Sapphira for lying to the congregation? Has God lowered the standards over the centuries?

I heard a pastor (Voddie Baucham Jr.) preach on the false idea that all sins are equal.

All sins separate us from God-Amen!! But all sins are not equal. Why else did God give us Leviticus and Dueteronomy?

You are correct in one of the dangers of believing that, a type of relativism that excuses the murder of babies because hey, we all sin.

“I know Jesus,” she replies."

So does Satan, and he shudders.

I hear what you’re saying and would agree that if someone regularly goes to church with a shirt that says “I love to lust” would probably be in more trouble with God than someone who’s had an abortion and has repented of it. The church would be wrong to sanction lust as well. Clearly without Christ, any sin will separate us from heaven and bring us to Hell.

But Jesus responded differently to the sin of the disciple’s bickering with one another than he did with others. We should be very careful how we judge others, but it seems we must judge what our churches do, and they must take a strong stance on the acts that cry out to God.

She needs to ponder “Does Jesus know me?”. If Jesus were to say “depart, I knew you not”, would she then say “but I knew you”. A thing like that could ruin her day...something we all should ponder.

In the not so distant future, under socialized medicine, every medical worker will be forced to participate in killing or lose their jobs.

Conservatives of the world have become so jaded about the liberal bent to “finding root causes” in the secular world of crime, that in church they forget that is precisely where Jesus comes from.

Behind every abortion is unlikely to be the story of a mere moment’s yielding to the dominance of satanic spirits. Very likely is a story of the heartache of a prodigal daughter if not also son. Behind the seeming carefree and callous front is a cry for... various things that only God can provide, but being met by the devil’s warped schemes instead.

It’s cheap and easy and satisfies our worldly ideas of instant karma to shake a finger at the prodigal; expensive in spiritual investment to patiently beckon him or her to the Father. But again, what Jesus did was expensive for God too. Why should we begrudge.

If you follow the biblical story of David you can see that even a killing does not cry out to God as much as the separation of what would be a willing servant from Him.

It really IS the hearts and minds campaign that was spoken of decades ago, except we have to get down and serious ourselves with God in order to get imbued with the kind of love that can embrace the unlovely and change them. It’s far more than sharing a nice thought at our convenience and going on our merry way. It means to re-invest ourselves in the Lord for all He is.

[It means to re-invest ourselves in the Lord for all He is.]

Actually more like making room for Him to re-invest Himself in us. The process will actually embarrass us once it is well underway. We will see sin that we pretended away and God’s grace amazingly forgiving it and purifying us to walk in a better and better manner.

Hmmmm, I guess she doesn’t know what Jesus said about one harms the least of these little ones....
“It would be better for him if a milstone were hanged about his neck and he was cast into the sea”.
