Broadcast networks have taken their cues from The New York Times, except when it publishes stories about babies that they don’t like.
A study released Wednesday by The New England Journal of Medicine documented thousands of premature births to discover a small number of babies born at 22 weeks, with medical treatment available to them, survived with few health implications.
The findings that could “affect the abortion debate” landed on the front page of the May 7 New York Times and garnered attention from NBC’s Today.
Other media, like ABC and CBS, stayed silent during their morning and evening news shows. …

In this day and age, the idea that an artificial environment could not be created that would protect that life MUCH sooner that 22 weeks is preposterous....If needed we could probably save the child’s life from about 6 weeks on.
Of course they can’t have that information getting out. The have a business to run. My wife’s water broke at 19 weeks and he delivered minutes into his 24 week. The first hospital we went to offered no hope. We walked out and went to a children’s hospital and they did what they could. He just had his 3rd birthday and is awesome.
Why wouldn’t they?
