Complete nonsense. The Boys Toys and Girls Toys menu selections are right there on top of the toy page.

I tend to agree with you.

Kids just need to be allowed the freedom to figure things out for themselves.

Sadly, we have more and more groups with agendas that want to influence them when they are the most uncertain.

It’s evil.

Why do businesses feel the need to alienate 99.9% of their customers with this?

DailyMail’s reply: Customers are still able to ‘filter’ toys based on the age of the child they are destined for, as well as the type of toy, such as ‘arts and crafts’, or ‘action figures and statues’. But there is no longer an easy way to look through all the toys aimed at girls in one fell swoop.

I gave you the link. The selections are right where you expect to find it on the main toy page. You are either blind or a troll. 8^P

Searched for “barbies for boys” at Amazon and got mostly Weber, some CharmGlow, and a smattering of Green Eggs.

Amazon has gone seriously downhill the past few years. Their search sucks, their extension of 3d-party vendors to sell on Amazon sucks, their use of USPS to deliver on the weekends has been a disaster. And last, but not least, their Prime isn’t worth a damn anymore.

There was an article posted here the other day about those venders paying people to post great reviews on Amazon. To their credit, Amazon stopped it as best they could.

Under categories, there were specifically toy for girls and toys for boys. Now they are just for children, kids. Now they are gender neuter.

Damn, should I get a Slinky for my nephew or for my Niece? I can't figure it out for myself......

Or how about them games that suggest age groups vs. genders? The sky is falling!

BTW - I just went to Amazon and used the search bar to type in "Boy's toys".

It gave me a list of boys toys in baby/boys toys age 2/boys toys age 7 and so on.

Since I found everything at Amazon to be easy when it comes to choosing a search for boys or girls toys, I think that maybe it ain’t the “voice of God” talking to you Julio - too bad so many here will take your trash at face value...

I logged into my Amazon account and clicked on “Shop By Department” which brings up all their categorized departments and the sub-departments underneath each.

In the area labeled “Toys, Kids & Baby”, the subcategories were:

Toys & Games
Baby
Video Games for Kids
Amazon Mom
Baby Registry
Kids’ Birthdays
For Girls
For Boys
For Baby

Putting “toys” in the search bar brought up many of those same options, but for this exercise, I just selected “Toys”.

On the left hand side where you can refine your search by things such as Prime eligible, by price, age range, by seller, toy interest, character, customer reviews, etc., there was also the option to select Department - Girls or Department – Boys.

I note that some search refinements such as age range and brand had check boxes next to them, indicating that you can select multiple boxes in one search while others such as the Department (Girls or Boys) and toy interest (Animals and Nature, Fashion, Learning, Sports, etc.) and toy character did not. But that sort of makes sense – if the default search includes both boy and girl toys, why would Amazon give you the search option of selecting with a check box, both boy and girl toys. The search option is still there, it just isn’t a check box format.

Once I selected the Department Girls, I could further refine my search by many of the above categories such as age range and interest. Selecting the Girls department and age range of 5-7 brought up “75,306 results for Toys & Games : Girls : 5 to 7 Years”. On the first page, some of those results were for toys that could be for either boys or girls – gender neutral, most seemed to be decidedly more “girly” like Fashion Head Bands and My First Sewing Kit. When I changed to the Boys department with the same age range, on the very first page while there were “gender neutral items”, many were decidedly more “boyish”, items like ZOOB Mobile Car Designer and Creativity for Kids Monster Trucks Custom Shop and 35TH Anniversary Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots Game.

I think you just do not understand how on-line shopping searches in general and Amazon in particular work. And as I find way too often with you bloggers (and the same goes for paid “professional” journalists for that matter), your research is sloppy.

If girls that age *would* play with an easy bake, they might get the results shown on the box. When an 8-year-old and her friend play with an easy bake, you get a HUGE mess.

I know boys who love to play with dolls and ponies, and girls who love Legos and dinosaurs. Mostly, it’s the other way around, but a lot of kids are in the middle or prefer the others.

Since I found everything at Amazon to be easy when it comes to choosing a search for boys or girls toys, I think that maybe it ain’t the “voice of God” talking to you Julio - too bad so many here will take your trash at face value...

I am the great aunt (and yes, I am a “GREAT!” aunt ; ), ) of 6 little girls ranging in a age from 5 years old to 8 years old including 7 year old triplets and five of them, the triplets, their 1 year older “older” sister and their 7 year old cousin, all have birthdays within two weeks of each other!

Shopping for all of them, for their birthday presents and at Christmas time presents some challenges for me.

All the girls, even the triplets, are so very different from each other in terms of their unique personalities and what toys they tend to like, but I am also mindful of and try hard to “keep things even”. While they are still at the age that they are probably not aware of what any particular gift item costs, I don’t want to spend a whole lot more on one kid; getting her an obviously very expensive gift or more gifts at the expense of giving the others something obviously cheaper gifts, but again I think this is more about me than them, my not wanting to give the appearance of playing favorites and also of my budget while still getting each of them something I know each of them will love. But I also see and recognize that all the girls have a rather competitive streak among themselves. Oh they are very competitive.

Of my niece’s girls, my 8 year old great niece Mel is an avid reader and has a particular passion for US history – she is scary smart and reading at least 4 levels above her grade level so I have to consider this when searching for gifts or books for her to look for things rated above her age range.

Of the triplets, Helen is the girly girl- she loves Disney Princess stuff and jewelry and dress up and everything purple; Madi is the artist, really into drawing and writing her own stories and poems, although she also likes some of what Helen does but her favorite color is blue or pink, and Lilli is the tom boy – she’s all about Legos and cars and trucks and Dino’s and Nerf guns but she also likes playing with Barbies and My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake and occasionally can be convinced to wear a girly dress, her favorite color is green. But all of them love Legos as does their older 17 year old brother and their father – Lego projects are often a whole family affair as are back yard Nerf gun battles, some of which I have participated in : ),

And of my nephew’s girls, Cecilia loves anything arts and crafts along with science kits and her younger 5 year old sister Viv – well she’s an enigma – a girly girl in some ways like her mom, a tom boy in other ways like her dad: ),

I do all my gift shopping for them on Amazon and have for several years now – it makes everything so much easier for me – search – compare – free shipping if Prime eligible – click – confirm - delivered to my door. As for my older nephew – 17 years old and my eldest niece – now 21 and graduating from college tomorrow – Amazon gift cards! That way they can get what they want and my eldest great niece, last year bought nearly all her required college text books, used off of Amazon at a great discount.

Christmas two years ago, my niece told me that all four of her girls had put snow boots on the Christmas wish list and that was a challenge - a challenge to get four snow boots of the same brand and style but in 3 different sizes and in four different colors. Amazon to the rescue and I didn’t have to leave my house to shop!

Last year for Christmas, I got all the younger nieces a gift off their individual wish lists - Mel asked for a the complete Harry Potter book series, Helen for a jewelry making kit, Madi for another book series, Lilly for a My Little Pony Lego set, Cecelia for a purse and wallet set and Viv for a set of baby doll accessories, all provided/suggested to me by their moms, but I also got each of the 6 girl’s “Disney Frozen” necklaces – all of the same quality and style but each of them unique, and they all loved them and this helped me with the “even things out” dilemma.
