And when I only put "toys" into the search bar...
The problem is not with Amazon, the problem is with you.
The Indepedent headline: Amazon drops gendered listings for toys, customers can no longer search for items for ‘boys’ and ‘girls’
DailyMail headline: Amazon makes toy department gender neutral: ‘Boy’ and ‘girl’ search filter removed from online market
Since you are evidently way too freaking lazy as a blogger to provide an actual link to the articles you mention (and no real surprise as most bloggers such as yourself are incredibly lazy), I will actually do it for you:
This is evidently a change in Amazon UK search parameters not Amazon US, but then I took the time, just a very few seconds of my time in fact, to Google Amazon.UK and then I put into the search toys girls I got this result:
And putting toys boys into the Amazon.UK search bar I got this, a much different result:
So contrary to the alarmist headlines of the Daily Mail (and I love the Daily Mail but mostly for the celebrity gosspic), The Independent and bloggers such as yourself, even in the UK one can still search for boy and girl centric toys.
Then again IMO some toys shouldnt necessarily be strictly labeled just for girls or just for boys.
For instance I know that when they were younger my triplet great nieces had something like this:
Their dad being a HVAC master mechanic and all around handy man, and much like my dad who was a master carpenter was, while a very conservative and old fashioned guy, he thinks it is a good thing for girls to learn some basic skills and know how to use some tools. FWIW at the same age they also had a kitchen set.
When I was a little girl a long time ago (Im 53 years old) one Christmas the only two things I really wanted was an Erector Set and either a telescope or a microscope/chemistry set but my mom talked my dad out of getting it for me and instead I got the EZ-Bake Oven that I played with only once or twice gadz was that a lousy toy and I much preferred playing with the Spirograph and Fun Maker especially making plastic bugs, that I got that year.
And why should something like an art set (and Im not talking about sparkle nail polish sets but art supplies like colored pencils and drawing paper) be more for girls than for boys or a science learning set be more for boys than girls?
And what kid - boy or girl, or a kid of any age wouldnt love this:
