Many don’t understand because 93 million+ don’t work so they are clueless about taxes.

$20.00 from a $200.00 paycheck sounds reasonable. I think 10% is a rate most of us would be O.K. with. Better if we had no inome tax. I agree with napscoordinator on the consumption tax. Cruz said he actually favors the Fair Tax as well, but thinks we will have to get there incremntally, with a Flat Tax being the first step. I would like to hear him expound on that.

I think you are right on the sales tax. I’ve heard Cruz say he favors that as well but thinks we will have to do it in stages with Flat Tax being the first step. It really does seem like the only fair solution. I’m not sure they would have to set it at 17%, but I’d like to see some proposals on it.

Most people don't know they pay more in FICA than income tax.

This kid paid $15.30 of his $20.00 deduction for FICA and his employer paid another $15.30... NOBODY, not even Cruz, is saying anything about that.

Not only that but even if they eliminated the "income tax" s/he AND the employer would still pay 7.65% of the gross for FICA (the employee pays 7.65% OF the gross while the employer pays 7.65% ON the gross).

Good point. Honestly, I hadn’t considered FICA.
