We had a Beagle and a Chihuahua. Our Beagle Buddy died last year. We still have the Chihuahua. Two of the best dogs I ever had. We are still not over losing Buddy. Beagle.

How totally flat earth.

Our Boston Bull / French Bull mix has the best all around personality of any dog we’ve owned, even a wonderful Lab who raised our daughter. I’ve never seen a dog easier to train or happier. He has great energy as well and is very gentle around toddlers (old peoples’ dogs aren’t always that good with kids). I can’t imagine him taking on a bull.

Turnspit dog was the source of the phrase "Every dog has its day."

Typically you would own at least a couple of them, when one would get tired, it would hop out of the wheel and chase the other into the wheel which people found quite entertaining.

Not out here in BFE they won’t-one of the dogs du jour for some years has been the mastiff, whether Neapolitan, English, or Bullmastiff-there are 7 of them guarding people, chickens and goats just on this road-that is 2 miles, give or take a few feet. Most do not have their ears and tails docked like you see in the city, and spend their nights indoors with people. But they really work-I guess...

I’ve come to only buying canine companions of the oldest, least altered breeds. I love my pets, and want them to have long healthy, happy lives, and the oldest breeds seem to do best. I have a Siberian Husky-she is 16 and doing fine, and before her we had a Chow who lived to be 17. I love German Shepherds and have had 2-but neither of them lived more than 13 years in spite of all our care.

I have 3 spoiled shelter cats-all my cats have come from a shelter. There are so many variations in dog breeds, but a domestic cat of any breed is pretty much the same-a cat...

The first time my finger pressed the link to this endangered dog breeds thread, on my iPad, I got a big picture of Carly fiorina (the thread directly under it in the list at the time). Lol!!
