Not out here in BFE they won’t-one of the dogs du jour for some years has been the mastiff, whether Neapolitan, English, or Bullmastiff-there are 7 of them guarding people, chickens and goats just on this road-that is 2 miles, give or take a few feet. Most do not have their ears and tails docked like you see in the city, and spend their nights indoors with people. But they really work-I guess...

I’ve come to only buying canine companions of the oldest, least altered breeds. I love my pets, and want them to have long healthy, happy lives, and the oldest breeds seem to do best. I have a Siberian Husky-she is 16 and doing fine, and before her we had a Chow who lived to be 17. I love German Shepherds and have had 2-but neither of them lived more than 13 years in spite of all our care.

I have 3 spoiled shelter cats-all my cats have come from a shelter. There are so many variations in dog breeds, but a domestic cat of any breed is pretty much the same-a cat...

That's awesome. Our English was never formally trained, but she grew a reputation among friends and delivery people that you didn't come to our house when we weren't home.

Also, she would chased cows four times her size back across the fence when they jumped it onto our property.
