Yes, Israel could and should bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities. Israel should not do this until a Defense Alliance has been
secured between several other countries, such as Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. I presume Bibi has people devising elaborate plans of defense and offense that by necessity completely leave America out of it. He knows he cannot rely on American defense or any new financial support to a great degree as long as Obama is President.

He knows that this plan would only work if the U.S.A. has no inkling about what is set to transpire. In fact, there will likely be several kinds of mis-information dispensed by the Israeli Colition at that historic time just to throw Obama’s Gang off. The American President will remain Comfortably Numb while all this is hitting the fan. This time, he won’t be faking his ignorance.

Bibi will do what he has to. Pretty simple.

Shift to an extreme version of MAD. Stipulate: the end of Tehran and as much else of Iran as possible. Also: the end of Mecca.

It would be very difficult to destroy the critical facilities with even repeated air attacks. However if the attacks were coordinated with some on the ground sabotage, it may be successful. Many of the Iranian Jews that were forced to leave Iran after the Islamic takeover were very involved in all aspects of the construction business. Would not be surprised if the support beams of many of those facilities are laced by Mossad with C4 explosives.

I think if they could, we would not have seen the political intrigue that we have witnessed in the past few months. Instead, we would notice a page eleven story in the newspaper about “tragic, unexplained fires” in about a dozen locations across Iran, that go unnoticed by the MSM. Israel has never been shy about doing what has to be done, and they don’t make a show of it.

This thread asks the right question. History will judge Bibi by what he does and not by what he says. Obviously, the ball is in his court. He’s got a nuclear arsenal and plenty of troops.

IMO Israel will now wait until there is a provocation by Iranian surrogates in southern Lebanon or Syria and use that as a timely excuse to strike Iran.

All Israel need do is strike back against Hezbollah forcefully and Iran will be foolish enough to do something that will invite a massive Israeli strike. Iran will not under any circumstances stand idle while Israel decimates Hezbollah in Lebanon...they are stupid enough to come to the aid of Hezbollah even knowing that it will give Israel license to strike.

Never again.

Can they? No, not by themselves. I've read various assessments of the amount and type of air power it would take to effectively strike at Iran's nuclear facilities and it is just a bridge too far for IDF. However, with a little help it becomes doable. Challenging, risky, but doable. Who could/would they look to for that help? Traditionally, well, us. But it is virtually unthinkable that our terrorist supporting, not-so-closeted muslim in chief would authorize such a military operation. The wild card in the region? Saudi Arabia. They don't want a nuclear armed Iran any more than Israel does. Several reasons behind that. Saudi air bases and refueling would help Israel immensely. Add in flying some support missions (ones that don't require tight coordination with main strike packages 'cause they just haven't exercised/rehearsed together) and it not only becomes doable but an emphatic political statement too.

Should they? Sadly, yes, I believe they should. The US certainly will not do it. H*ll, bammy, Kerry, and cohorts are helping the Iranians. As terrible as it is to contemplate, the lives that will be lost, damage done, risks taken, etc. The potential (scratch that, make that likely) risks and damage that would be done by a nuclear armed Iran outweigh the likely losses of removing that threat.

If Israel attacks Iran, then there will be consequences beyond any political issues with the west. It may trigger an all-out conventional war against Israel on all fronts. Right now, I do not believe Israel can rely upon the US to assist like it once would.

So, if they do attack Iran, I hope they are prepared to defend -solo- a full-on military response of varying degrees from one or all of their moose-limb neighbors. they should NOT have to stand alone, but in these days and times, I wouldn’t put it past 0bama to turn his back.

It has been suggested that Israel should seriously consider destroying Iranian nuclear facilities, but Israeli officials obviously haven't said, and won't say, if, how or when she might.

Assuming that she can. It assumes that they know 100% of what Iran is doing.
