....A month or so ago, there were legitimate questions as to whether Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker was up to speed on foreign policy and could project the gravitas we expect of presidential nominees. In an interview with Hugh Hewitt, he seemed a far cry from the candidate at CPAC. His answer on the Taliban trade and news of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahls desertion charge was solid......
Likewise,he explained why he prefers the term safety and gave an apt overview of what is happening in the Middle East:
Safety is something you feel inside your chest, you feel in your heart. And I think increasingly, Americans feel a sense of concern that particularly if they have family members or loved ones that ever want to travel again, they see France, they see Canada, they see other places around the world, not just the Middle East, and its a safety issue. And they, and then I would just add to this, as they look at this more closely, they see a president whos drawn a line in the sand and crossed it, who called ISIS just a year ago the jayvee squad, who called Yemen last fall a success story, who calls Iran now a place where we can do business. Think about how screwed up that is. I remember the movie in the 80s, Trading Places...you know, with Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy, its like Iran and Israel are trading places in the sequel. In the eyes of this president, our ally is supposed to be Israel. Our adversary has been historically Iran. And yet this administration completely does it the other way around. We need to call radical Islamic terrorism for what it is,and a commander-in-chief whos willing to act.
His has no trouble saying he would absolutely walk away from a faulty Iran deal.....

I support Cruz but won’t beat up on Walker. I’ll save my best venom for Little Jebbie and Chunky C.
So then my question would be was Obama treated like that when he first thought about running? I can't remember. Or has he always been the media darling even early when he shouldn't have been a real contender.
Thanks for your opinions. I am open to both....even if I get attacked for it. :-)
Indeed. Why would such a person do such a thing?
He’s never seen 1% of the criticism and bile that Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin or Ronald Reagan saw and have seen.
Not this FReeper. I'm good with either one.
What they are afraid of is a Christian that ignites the Tea Party. Even the WSJ editorial board fears a Christian. They are all closer to Rand Paul, ideologically, but are offering Walker or Perry as alternatives for the Christians and Tea Party members.
It is possible that they have moved away from Rand Paul over his foreign policy weakness, but they were with him on immigration.
Why do you link to a HuffPo thread re some poster (that you identify as a Walker supporter) to this thread to make a point that has nothing to do with Walker’s comment about safety and terrorism?
“It would appear that the way they plan to champion Ted Cruz is by attacking Scott Walker.”
Are we talking about Jennifer (”Anybody But Cruz”) Rubin?
We sure are. What is she afraid of? A GOP victory?
Why have so many freepers turned against Walker?
You might find some answers here...

I was answering another Freeper’s direct question about comments.
While I have you here, I noticed you’ve been following conservatives who have been under attack.
I found this and thought you would find it interesting (perhaps informative).
“Linguist and social activist Noam Chomsky (a self-described libertarian socialist) said that the Wisconsin protests and the 2011 Egyptian revolution “are closely intertwined”, and that both consist of “struggles for labor rights and democracy”....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Wisconsin_protests#Public_opinion
Doesn’t that sort of make Walker’s remark about ISIS and the Wisconsin protests clearer? It certainly was in the back of the minds of the Left as the Middle East caught on fire.
I haven’t noticed Freepers turning away from Walker, just supporting Cruz. But I do agree, the media is as scared of Cruz as they were of Palin and they’re out to stop him any way they can.
The only way to fight that is to get these reporter’s bias out there, let the people see the game.
I don't spare the slightest moment thinking about how they might lead the world. I'm not electing a world leader, I'm electing our leader.
Considering the ‘brilliant’ world leader that Obama’s been, it seems like the other side doesn't consider anything other than what might make them ‘feel’ the best when selecting the next president. Should they vote for the woman, because it's about time that a woman is in the White House, or should they choose the black man who's maybe not TOO black?
In either case, no one is selecting their candidate based upon their perceived future actions on the world stage. They want someone who will make good decisions as president. Probably not the best thing in Obama’s case, as ideally, a president chooses a Secretary of State based upon their knowledge and experience with diplomacy.
Of course, Obama chose someone who's grand experience on the world stage was standing wherever she was told to during photo ops, and then picked a replacement who thinks a nice song might make the pain go away when Islamic terrorists kill people.
Then again, I'm sure Democrats were happy with the choices, since they likely ‘felt right’ to them. As a conservative, I was ecstatic that Obama single handedly removed two sitting liberal senators, effectively ending their political careers with their inept actions at the State Department.
In a round about way, what I'm getting at is that Scott Walker has demonstrated the ability to make good decisions and select the right people for the right jobs. Do I rightly care if he's on a first name basis with some foreign leader? You're dang tootin’ I care - but not in the way that liberals care. I care because of the undo influence some foreign leader might have in our government. The President serves the Americans first and foremost.
I think Scott Walker has what few do; a campaign operation that is passionate and very well battletested. A disdain for much of the Republican operation that brought us Romney (and by extension, McCain, after all the conservatives dropped out), and a track record of making good decisions.
I hope he continues that trend and makes the decision to run for the White House.
Conservatives like talk and platitudes. It is human nature. Results and getting things done is not a positive trait anymore in the United states sadly. Giving what Americans want to hear but doing absolutely nothing to get it done is the sign of the times that is how we ended up with Obama and may end up with another doing the same thing. Does that answer your question? lol.
This is out of place. We did Walker for two weeks. Then we’ll fawn over Cruz for two weeks, then I guess Perry will be next, then the next conservative in line. And then after about 6-10 months of this, we’ll bash each other’s candidates so they are so bloodied none can survive. The convention will elect Bush or some other middle of the roader and, in 2020, we’ll start all over again.
Obama has gotten so much done that he’s nearly destroyed the country, and he’s a pretty dim bulb.
Cruz is brilliant. Think of what he could accomplish.
I was thinking about this same thing earlier this morning.
If Obama can continue steering our economy over the cliff, we will be incapable to defend our nation - let alone the world.
Period.
I hope, but so far he has accomplished very little in the Senate and that is why I am so concerned about his Presidency. He is a good speaker, he will discuss one policy issue after another day in and day out, but at the end of the day he has not accomplished much in the way of the Senate. He shut down the government but we still have Obamacare, a terrible debt ridden budget, etc. He does not seem to be able to persuade his fellow Senators to pass his agenda. Reagan was able to do that. Obama is not able to do that which is why he legislates with Executive Order. Walker can do that very convincingly and that is why I fully support Walker. Cruz is a policy person but is not a salesman which to get your agenda passed, you need to be one.
