New Orleans airport shooting: Man with machete shot when he attacked TSA officer, sheriff says
The New Orleans Times-Picayune ^ | March 20, 2015 | Heather Nolan

A man with a machete was shot after he attacked a security officer at Louis Armstrong International Airport Friday evening, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said.

The man walked down a TSA Pre-Check security line into Concourse B at about 7:30 p.m. and was challenged by an officer who was checking for his boarding pass, Normand said. The man then pulled out a can of wasp spray and sprayed the officer, he said.

He ran past two other officers and pulled out a machete, cutting a female TSA officer in the arm, Normand said.

A sheriff's officer opened fire, striking the man in the left chest area, the left facial area and the left thigh, Normand said. The man was taken to the hospital, where he was described by Normand as "unresponsive."

The man was identified as Richard White, 63, of the 1600 block of Taylor Street in Kenner, Normand said. That address is about a mile away from the airport.

"We haven't been able to determine how he got to the airport," Normand said. "But we'll be looking at all the video."

The TSA officer was taken to the hospital with a cut to her upper bicep, Normand said. "She got cut pretty good."

Three members of the "traveling public" also were hurt, the sheriff said. One man sustained a graze wound to his arm, believed to have been from a bullet fired by the deputy, he said.

Two other travelers caught in the scramble had cuts to their hands, feet and legs, Normand said.

Hacking at a TSA agent with a machete isn’t really an “attack”, more like “clearing undergrowth”.

He must have had some confusion about the Bug-Out-Bag concept.

I own around a dozen machetes. They could be an effective weapon in certain situations but generally the users should be young and powerful.

The bug spray I don’t see unless you are after insects along with people.

“”We haven’t been able to determine how he got to the airport,” Normand said”

It’s the TSA. They’re not know for their security prowess but only for yelling at people to remove their shoes and place their crap unto gray trays.

Given that he lives a mile away, one of most obvious and reliable methods of getting to the airport - especially with a machete - is by walking.

**The bug spray I don’t see unless you are after insects along with people.**

Bug spray in the eyes at twenty feet is as good as pepper spray! That is why some people keep bug spray handy if they are attacked.

From what I read, he was a taxi driver. What the hell is a taxi driver doing at an airport?

Ahhhhh...SouthWest Airlines——the first airline to disperse illegal aliens from south of the border ALL OVER OUR COUNTRY PRIOR TO THE START OF SCHOOL last year. (Ya know—the ones that Barry invited in with the lice and scabies and tuberculosis and other diseases?)

Just wondering if this guy’s kid got sick and he was taking revenge.
