A mother dog and her nine puppies were fleeing from a fire in Valparaiso, Chile. In order to protect her pups, the mother dog dug a hole and hid her puppies in there, according to Telemundo 47.
Luckily, the puppies were retrieved from the hole with the help of rescuers.
The mother also survived the incident, too.
Now, Valparaiso residents are coming forward to adopt the new pups and their mother, who has been affectionately nicknamed "Negita."
Valparaiso has been severely hit by forest fires in recent days, according to Telemundo 47. More than 500 hectares were burned since the blaze started this past Friday, and just less than a year after 15 people were killed and 3,000 homes destroyed in another fire, according to BBC.

Good dog!

Sure beats the woman I read about in another story who goes on trial for decapitating her 3 month old baby!
No one should be surprised, but please no comments about typical Black families and absent Fathers! ; )
Are we sure the dog didn’t already have the puppies in the hole?
I had a beagle that dug her way under an old immovable piece of farm equipment and had puppies. We didn’t see the pups till they started coming out by themselves.
Yeah, really.
The #1 cause of death for children is their own parents, most often, the mother.
And that’s just the post-birth stats.
This is one fupped uck world.
:(
You know, a term of endearment or just descriptive without being offensive.
That was my thought as well.
However, it is commendable that she did not abandon them as fire passed over.
Somewhere, there is a photo of a burned bird on a nest with her live babies safely beneath her.
There’s no r in Negita.
I can’t find the meaning but there are apparently lots of people named Negita.
Sure beats the woman I read about in another story who goes on trial for decapitating her 3 month old baby!”
These two opposite stories just demonstrate that some mothers are not only subhuman but also subcanine.
You just gave me a smile during a somewhat depressing afternoon.....Thanks.
My bad. Negita
Drives me nuts that I cannot find out what it means.
:D
The pups and their hero mom, whos been named Negita (Blacky), were all alive and healthy, one of the rescuers told Telemundo.
