Don't know when this vid was shot. Just received it from a buddy in northern Michigan. Check out the clarity of the ice and water below. Turn down the volume to dampen the excited whooping of the young yoopers in the tent with a good sized lake trout on the line.

Ole Wah!
And they put it back.
I bet you can drink the water.
Awesome fish DUDE!
Used to love ice fishing when I lived up north.
Didn’t have tents and all that jazz then.

Food for thought, so-to-speak.
that thing is huge that thing is huge that thing is huge..........
Our favorite.
Pretty much all fish are better when they’re caught in cold winter water.
Flesh is much firmer on fish caught in cold water. Trout and salmon generally live in cold water anyway.
For instance, the salmon migrate north by the Manitou Islands each year where it's deep. They hang around what's called the thermal break, on the cold side, looking for smaller fish that hang around there. Most charter boats (and good fishermen), the first thing they establish is what depth the thermal break is, so they can set the depths of the lures.
The clarity of the ice is what struck me. As a kid many moons ago ice fishing on Lake St. Clair, I don’t remember the ice being so clear. Of course we were not inside a nice warm tent or even a shanty where the snow frozen to the surface of the ice melted, as is the case in this video. And we would be catching perch or maybe a pickerel but never a lake trout. The young fellas in this vid had a real good day with a fish tale they can backup with hard evidence.
#5 Fish poop in the water....
The video is very clear. I wonder what camera they used?
Here is another video of a giant fish.

You can. I was told by a park ranger that 100 ft from shore it’s pure. I tested it and sucked down a whole bottle full while backpacking. It tasted great
That looks like he’s walking close to shore while the light wind is blowing what little snow is there right off the ice. It’s hard to tell the lake depth there but the ice and water are certainly clear.
