Pretty much all fish are better when they’re caught in cold winter water.
The clarity of the ice is what struck me. As a kid many moons ago ice fishing on Lake St. Clair, I don’t remember the ice being so clear. Of course we were not inside a nice warm tent or even a shanty where the snow frozen to the surface of the ice melted, as is the case in this video. And we would be catching perch or maybe a pickerel but never a lake trout. The young fellas in this vid had a real good day with a fish tale they can backup with hard evidence.
