Whether it's unions or universities, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) has waged a number of huge fights -- symbolic and otherwise -- with liberals. So far, the fights have only served to bolster his credentials among national conservatives who like nothing more than a Republican willing to poke liberals in the eye.
And now New York Times columnist Gail Collins has thrown Walker another hanging curveball by which to bash liberals and shine in the eyes of conservatives.
In a recent column widely derided as a "hit piece" by conservatives, Collins centered on Walker's breakout speech in Iowa, declaring that it was "his moment." Known for her stream-of-consciousness writing style, Collins sets herself up as a kind of fact-checker of Walker's record. She blames the governor for cutting state aid to education that led to teacher layoffs -- particularly in regard to one teacher who had been honored.
But there was just one big problem with that assertion: Walker wasn't actually in office when said cuts were made.

"......Scott Walker knows his enemies. And he knows that strong targets offer fierce reactions but great rewards. By beating unions in a thickly unionized state, surviving a recall, and winning re-election, Walker captivated conservatives and pulled himself to the national stage. This is just the next step. How do you distinguish yourself from a crowd of culture war competitors like Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum? You borrow a page from Spiro Agnew and provoke a culture war. You launch another raid on Wisconsin liberals, in hopes that theyll take the bait and give you fuel for whatever you need to say.
Based on their reaction so farWalker doesnt value the university, said one government worker to the Times, He has disdain for anything intellectual. He doesnt care if the populace is educatedhis foils are doing just that.
Ill say it again: Scott Walker knows his enemies. And so far, they havent figured it out."
That’s ok. Nixon wasn’t in office when he sent Kerry to Cambodia.
Liberals are godless. That’s why they lie. It fits the narrative. What we need to do is call them out on it every chance we get. And say they are godless.
What bothers me is why did Mark Levin say this about Walker?

It seems to me as if he got more out of his university education than man many who graduate with the degree actually did. It’s something that I have noticed happens from time to time. There’s this aspect of placing value on your education. Plenty of people carry what they learn, plenty of those whom I have seen graduate don’t seem to value their degree beyond it being a status symbol, not always, but sometimes.
Too much of the latter, not enough of the former.
Take Howard Dean (please!) Evidence of schooling, but education? Not so much.
Levin will skewer anyone who doesn’t say me must deport all illegals.
So, Levin is kind of a purest on that base, but it’s not the wisest course to take that position either.
Thanks for the answer, clears that mystery up for me.
Because Mark Levin - like everyone else - has his own agenda, and will downgrade anyone who isn't a part of it.
I’m not quite ready to jump on the Walker bandwagon. He is going to have to clarify himself on all issues first which he has not yet done.
Here’s a link for you.
READ the whole thing.
Wait...READ...? Who wants to do that?
It’s an interesting piece. As hard as this less than friendly news outlet tries to slam Walker (even at the end where they’re telling you how to interpret Walker’s words - make them up - to fit into their scenario) it just isn’t there. But there is the headline - which is what people absorb.
Pea brained intellectuals are some of the dumbest people on the planet.
Pray America is waking
Which none of them will say, explicitly.
What is ironic is that Levin's favorite theme is that Ted Cruz is like Reagan (or is Reagan) and Reagan won 49 states in 1984 so now that means that Ted Cruz would (if nominated, which seems unlikely right now), win 49 states too.
Yep, he would win MA, NY, CA and Maryland where I live, because Reagan did it over 30 years ago
Yet Reagan actually got REAL amnesty done, yet we need Cruz to deport them all. But Cruz is Reagan and that's all that matters to Mark and those who believe whatever he says.
Lest you think that no one would buy such tripe I get pinged here with the same silly logic, just yesterday in fact.

Bah - I don’t need to read it. I know Scott Walker wants to flood America with 50 million illegal immigrants. The Cruz supporters here on FR told me so.
The GOPe is so afraid of true conservatives taking power in Washington, they foist upon us weak candidates they know will lose, they sandbag and backstab genuine conservative Senate candidates they know can win, and they roll over for Obama every chance they can.
They refuse to do their duty to defend the Constitution (yes to Cromnibus and no to Articles of Impeachment), and they do their utmost to sabotage the one presidential candidate who has the courage to stand up and fight for the Constitution.
Ted Cruz is the only candidate who can inspire the millions of disaffected conservatives to give the GOP one more chance. However, the GOPe is perfectly content with President Hillary as long as they can maintain power.
Wifey, it doesn't matter whether Walker was in office or not.
He is such a bad guy, that if he were in office he would have made the cuts that resulted in lay offs.
Note the word "actually" in that sentence, he was figuratively in office.
Facts don't matter to the left, the narrative is too good to pass on.
What a bunch of low life scumbags.
Howard Dean said ARGHHHHH! and FAGGOT! And yep, a certified MD used that language!
Good link. Thanks. I hope he moves to a stronger position on border control, but this destroys the myth perpetrated by a lot of posters that Walker is a clone of Jeb and an amnesty shill.
