NM AG's Office supports Obama's executive order on immigration, joins other states in opposition of Texas judge's ruling

The New Mexico Attorney General's Office submitted an amicus brief saying it disagrees with a ruling by a Texas federal judge Monday that President Obama and his administration had exceeded its authority by issuing an executive order that allows undocumented immigrants to apply for work permits and delay deportation.
Read the brief here in its entirety.
The amicus brief filed by AG Hector Balderas's office stands in support of the president's actions. New Mexico joins Washington, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, and Vermont, and the District of Columbia in the brief.
"The truth is that the directives will substantially benefit states, will further the public interest, and are well within the Presidents broad authority to enforce immigration law," the brief reads.
"We're not going to disregard this federal court ruling," Obama said, but he added that administration officials would continue to prepare to roll out the program. "I think the law is on our side and history is on our side," he said.
On Capitol Hill, the Homeland Security Department stood 10 days away from losing funding, but the Texas judge's ruling made a compromise on that dispute look more distant than ever. Republicans are blocking funding for the agency unless Democrats agree to cancel Obama's immigration orders, and they seized on the ruling as validation for their position.
Yet Senate Democrats, who have been blocking a House-passed bill that would fund the department but also undo Obama's actions, said the ruling from the Texas judge did nothing to budge them.

Hector Balderas.
Nope, no vested ethnic interest there.
The truth is that if everyone here gave them citizenship - everything they wanted BUT the right to vote, ever, Democrats would run from this like roaches when the lights are turned on.
...I’m sayin.... :)
you are wise, van Helsing....it’s totally about votes for the democracks
Van Helsing.....cool thought. You know who’d make a great Van Helsing poster as a DemoVamp fighter? Ted Cruz. It would be a hoot. :0)
Impresssssive, Obi-Wan....
Judge Hanen’s ruling thoroughly addresses the AG’s claims, and then some.
Balderas wants to be the next Governor, following in the footsteps of the last execrable rodent, Billy the Molester Richardson. Fortunately, no one since statehood has been able to directly win the Governorship from Attorney General (Dem AG Gary King just lost badly in November, and Toney Anaya lost the Senate race from the office in 1978 after a term before winning Guv 4 years later).
fta... Republicans are blocking funding for the agency unless Democrats agree to cancel Obama’s immigration orders,...
*************************
That’s a damned lie.
Republicans are offering a bill that funds all aspects of the DHS EXCEPT the unconstitutional attempt at amnesty. Filibustering by Dem Senators is blocking the bill.
I hope John Sanchez will be the next Governor.
Possibly early if Martinez is elected Vice President.
I HATE LIARS!!!
who, exactly, lied, huerto?
Anyone that says Republicans are blocking funding for the agency. The HOR passed a bill that funds the agency. Senate DEMOCRATS are blocking it from being voted on.
