There have been lots of people for years who haven’t gotten their kids vaccinated. Some religions don’t believe in it and independent groups of people who oppose mandatory vaccinations. It has never lead to a measles outbreak. So, what’s changed? ...You don’t think there could be a connection with 0bama’s illegals? No, that’s a crazy thought, and racist as well. Much better to ignore the obvious and continue to let previously eradicated disease fester in this country lest we get called uncaring racist bigots.

Too bad there wasn’t a vaccination to turn Shep into a man.

I feel like I’ve stepped into the Twilight Zone. Where are all the freepers who were blasting the rest of us (Sun/Mon)for saying the same things that are being said on this thread now. Two other threads exist on vaccinations (that I’ve seen) and we’ve been insulted, called all kinds of names for stating our beliefs and our practice of NOT vaccinating and our rationale for such. Does everyone here hate Shepard Smith so much that the subject doesn’t matter now?

Incredible!

Recently, there was talk of requiring vaccinations .. but I know here in CA, you have to prove your child has been given their shots, before they can enter into school.

And .. I remember when it went national .. polio shots. You didn’t have a choice .. we stood in line for hours just to get our shot. However, we got rid of polio.

These new epidemics are from those who come here from foreign countries who have NEVER had any shots at all.

I’d wouldn’t mind playing “tempura” with Shep. It involves lightly “battering” him, and then throwing him a vat of hot oil...

Liberal Smith hypocritically ignores that liberals use fact-supported fiction to advance their agenda as evidenced by global warming propaganda and pro-abortion propaganda. And it takes time for responsible parents to weed out the propaganda, vaccination issues an example.

It is disgusting how the Corrupt Liberal Media ignore the factor of hundreds of thousands of illegals who have not been vaccinated in this story.

Liberalism has killed journalism.

Why does the cdc prevent suits against the vaccine companies, and why has the Cdc paid out damages for brain damage (autism) to the tune of 3 Billion?

Here is the truth: In 1986, following a series of lawsuits that threatened to end vaccine manufacture for all American children, Congress passed the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act. Included in the act was the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. If studies show that a vaccine causes injury, as happens on rare occasions, there is provision for damages, to be paid relatively quickly, and in ample sums, by the federal government. If the scientific data does not support a causative effect, it does not pay compensation.

IN 2007, in response to burgeoning hysteria fed by Wakefield and other experts like Robert F. Kennedy Jr and Don Imus, 5000 autism claims were brought to trial in a sort of class action suit. In the course of the trial the plaintiff witnesses were unmasked as hired guns for plaintiff lawyers, many of them never having actually diagnosed or treated a child for autism, and with no specialized knowledge of immunology or toxicology. This case, the "Omnibus Autism Proceeding," totally collapsed when the frauds behind it were exposed in open court.

The CDC paid no money to anyone, much less "billions." You should be more careful of where you get your information in the future.

This is from the US Dept of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration website:

Since the first National Vaccine Injury Compensation (VICP) claims were filed in 1989, 3,887 compensation awards have been made. More than $3.0 billion in compensation awards has been paid to petitioners and more than $120.4 million has been paid to cover attorneys’ fees and other legal costs.

To date, 9,860 claims have been dismissed. Of those, 4,912 claimants were paid more than $64.8 million to cover attorneys’ fees and other legal costs.

I thought Shep was a weepy mess at Katrina.

Nonetheless, the burden’s on parents not to immunize their kids.

So, should the nation take away the military’s right to force immunization upon the troops?

The other side of the “to vaccinate or not” is that children used to die form pertussis, small pox, diphtheria, tetanus, Hemophilis(sp)B influenza meningitis... many of the diseases that we now vaccinate against.

Part of the reason that folks had so many children was that the odds were against the child living past one year of age. Vaccines changed all that.

That is how the Iditarod race came to be in Alaska, getting the diphtheria vaccine to a town where children were dying of the disease.

Most children of “no vaccine” families are protected by herd immunity, but when the immunity of the herd drops to 80% or less, those children are at risk of catching the very diseases their parents are vaccinated against, unless they too came from a “no vaccine” family, then, the whole family is at risk.

To those of you who are on the fence, check out the history of vaccination, the first disease that was vaccinated against...small pox. It was noticed that milk maids and farmers were not catching small pox when the area was contagious. Because most of them were exposed to cow pox, it was discovered (by scientists and doctors) that cow pox also gave immunity from small pox. And the rest is history...

Not correct. It’s easy to get a waiver in CA by stating medical reasons or personal conviction. Up here in Sonoma & Marin Counties, we’ve been having a lot of problems with the greenie-wienies not vaccinating their precious snowflakes, and outbreaks of measles & chickenpox in various schools as a result.
