What’s wrong with psych evaluation of armed law enforcement personnel once a year? Seems it could identify root problems.

I agree. Given the outrageous police behavior one can see on so many videos these days it’d be nice to get the cops tested for rage problems and PTSD. It might not also be a bad idea to randomly test cops for illegal steroid use the same as we do for baseball players.

I have done it for hiring, many times. It is very common in most municipalities. You are looking for psychological stability and willingness to be a team player.

There is no reason to repeat the process unless there is an incident that brings these factors into focus (e.g., the most common is probably heavy drinking after a divorce).
