No, Hollywood. Islam Does Not Have a PR Problem.

Ever since the savage attacks in France, our pencil-waving, cartoon-pixelating media and Islamic theologian body politic have gone on an Islamic charm offensive.

In the face of 24,935 jihadist attacks since Sept. 11, 2001, we are told over and over again that Islam, one of the world’s great religions, is peaceful and merely being distorted by misunderstanding violent extremists with no particular ideology.

Whether or not you believe this, in spite of Islam’s supremacist goals and history, Koran-endorsed strategic lying and deception by way of taqiyya, the totalitarian theopolitical doctrine of Shariah that compels the systematic persecution of women, gays and non-Muslims, the sermons of influential imams let alone the definition of Islam itself, “submission,” is besides the point and distracts us from the real issue at hand.

The real issue is that there are millions of Muslim jihadists, aiders, abettors and sympathizers in the world – including all throughout the West – working through means, overt and covert, violent and peaceful, to unite the world under the rule of Allah.

Not Islamophobia.

Not America’s support for Israel (pre-Obama at least).

Not drone strikes.

Not Abu Ghraib.

Not Guantanamo Bay.

Not a YouTube video.

Not a cartoon.

I read a similar article about "peaceful Islam" in my local rag this morning. According to the article by a guy named Charles Haynes, who is the director of The Religious Freedom Center of the Newseum Institute centered in Wash. D.C. the problem is not the "few" jihadists who have hijacked Islam, it's all the haters i.e. Islamophobes who are the problem.

Name the countries where Islam and modern civilization get along...where are they? Turkey had a chance, but now that's turning into a typical fascist/Islamic country. The Kurds are the only Muslims I like. Maybe they could have a decent country. Most of the rest of the Islamic countries are pestholes.

We hear about Islam’s contributions to the world, but when pressed, we get some speech about algebra, and Islam ripped that off. We get speeches about architecture, but that too was pilfered from the non Islamic world. Fact is, there isn’t one place on this planet that is better off because Islam has come to it. Islam doesn’t make things better.

Islam is a religion of ignorance, militance, of cruelty, fear, of xenophobia and intolerance. It uses Western softness for religions other than Christianity to spread its malignancy.

Islam does, indeed, have a PR problem and it is growing. More and more people are beginning to believe that Moslems follow the religion as it is promulgated in the Koran and that is a problem for the Moslem Image, especially as Moslems do follow that book and are therefore very dangerous to other people and to civilization generally, and to the local climate in large localities due to their insistence on converting fertile agricultural land into semiarid sheep pasture, which does alter the patterns of rainfall and temperature. Truth makes for terrible PR in the case of Islam and Moslems are beginning to lose control of their PR process.

The contributions of Moslems to science were mostly also in the manuscripts preserved and copied in the monestaries. Algebra was named by the arabs but was in use in Europe to a small extent before it got a name.

Much of the classic Arab architecture in Spain and even in the ME is more mythical than real. Actual archaeology shows much less developed architecture than the artists painted.
