The Coming Democratic Civil War
myself ^ | 1/21/2015 | Braak

Posted on 01/21/2015 11:32:14 AM PST by Braak

It's interesting to hear Obama talk these days. His SOTU was pure bunk, as usual (What did anyone expect?). What this small missive is about is something far different.

Obama has sucked the air out of the Democratic room. That's right, Hillary! may be the front runner, but she's far from got the nomination locked up, especially in the wake of 2008, where Obama showed she can be beaten. Naturally, being a Clinton, bygones will not be bygones, and while HW and Bill may be friends, Hillary! will not forget, or forgive.

So far, if one looks at the playing field, we have two potential challengers to Hillary! Let's look at them in some detail.

Elizabeth Warren: Senator Warren is a darling of the far left, and probably the closest thing to Henry Wallace to be found in modern American politics. Dubious Native American claims aside, she claims she voted for both parties http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2011/10/24/elizabeth-warren-i-created-occupy-wall-street.html

Keep in mind, she also claims in the article she created "Occupy Wall Street", so like most liberals, truth is a malleable construct. She furthermore helped create the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Being named by Harry Reid as part of the TARP oversight hasn't helped but to create an image of a ultra-liberal, anti-business crusader who never met a tax increase she didn't like.

Considering Moveon.org is pushing her campaign for the nomination harder than a car dealer pushes end of year models in December, her protestations about "not wanting to run" have little weight attached to them.

I am going to go out on a limb. Elizabeth Warren is the most dangerous politician the left has. Not because she is charismatic, or gifted, but because she truly believes in what she says, except when she lies to further her goals. She will run. Count on it.

Joe Biden: I know it's dangerous to dismiss one's enemies, but Joe Biden is running mainly because he is expected to. I doubt his candidacy will last much past Super Tuesday. Obama will say little. His real loyalties lie with Ms. Warren, which he will keep hidden until he needs to. Joe isn't a serious candidate, and his health will become an issue during the campaign, not to mention his big mouth.

So, where does the civil war come in? Hillary! is expecting a coronation. The liberal wing of the party is wondering where the Clintonians have a place in their party? You can guess what will happen as we get deeper into primary season? Yep, there will be a repeat of 2008, but I think far meaner. You will have two ambitious women competing for what they think is an office that is "due" them. That is going to spark a real metaphorical bloodletting amongst their supporters.

So, what do conservatives do? Unlike Operation Chaos the last time, I propose this: Do nothing. Napoleon had a point when he said "never interrupt your enemies when they are making a mistake". Why should we? The liberal and so-called centrist democrats will go after each other soon enough. The centrists will blame the liberals for being "fed to the dogs" during the disastrous losses of 2010 and 2014. The liberals will see their moment in the sun being taken away by a "Clinton".

We need to be above the fray, say little, iron out our intra-party differences and hold sober discussions about what kind of nominee we want. If the public sees us being smart and sober, and the Dems in chaos...it won't matter what candidate the Democrats put up.

It would be fun to see the #FERGUSON crowd attack Murtha’s house.

Senator Warren is a darling of the far left, and probably the closest thing to Henry Wallace to be found in modern American politics.

Being a Boomer I have more often thought of her as the (figurative) reincarnation of Sen. Eugene McCarthy, or perhaps Rep. Jeanette Rankin, but I can see the connection to Wallace.

You need only look back to 2008 when Queen Hillary expected a coronation and George Soros thought that BO would better advance his goals. The Clintons may not have liked it but, in the end, they went along with it. Democrats are easily herded and may even have serious agreements on methodology at times.

But in the end, they will do as they are told like all good little fascists.

Here's the problem: the MSM loves Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Hillary, far less so; small wonder why Jim Webb and Elizabeth Warren are touted as alternatives.

The liberal wing of the party...

So, what do you call the other wing? The Stalinist wing?

Republicans had a truly glorious run in the 2010 Senate elections, which means that the 2016 elections make even a 4-seat Republican Senate majority highly vulnerable.

But ... the glass is half-full. Unless the Dems have considerable success in 2016, they are toast for awhile. If Republicans hold the Senate and win the White House, they are nearly assured of having ironclad control for at least the next four years.

My point is that as much as this president is pushing for a civil war, such a war would come at a huge, huge cost to the Dems.

I would love to see the Dems nominate Warren, but she’s not running and would not win the nomination against any credible alternative candidate.

I am not convinced that Hillary Clinton is running, nor am I convinced that All Gore is NOT running. Gore is the best alternative — perhaps the only credible alternative — to Clinton. The Dem bench is not very deep.

With the republicans at each others throats and the disillusioned democrats looking for a new cause, Warren will emerge from the chaos to deliver the coup d’état.

Remember how the PUMAs in 2008 were going to have a big impact on that election?

Yeah Me neither

Didn't he say that at Waterloo?

Hillary has a big problem. Dear Leader refuses to back off and is going full throttle liberal. The Dim base firmly backs him. He is not triangulating like Bill did after his beating in the midterms.

Problem is, Hill can't get elected by pushing Dear Leader's platform, and she knows it. But she can't get the nomination if she doesn't.

I'm not convinced she will run. I don't see how she can square this circle.

Well, in all fairness, they did help BO carry Indiana, North Carolina and the Omaha district in Nebraska. Just like good, obedient little fascists.

Most of the Democratic Party’s so-called centrists were defeated in the last three elections, with the residue now hunkered down and hoping only to survive. Meanwhile, although the Democratic Party’s numbers in office are depleted, what remains is more resolutely Leftist than ever.

Warren may well be Baraq 2.0 taking down the Clinton Crime Family and winning in November 2016.

A lot of folks scoff at her, but after an 18 month effort by the journ-0-lists, many Americans will view her as a valiant grandmother fighting for the middle class against Wall $treet and Big Banks. Throw in a minority VP to stimulate the entitlement army vote and student loan forgiveness Groupons for the millennials and you have a formidable coalition.
