This is an idea so dumb a government grant must have funded its development.

I’m agreeing with you with the expectation that L.S. will see it.

I have worn Docksides or Bass Loafers without socks since 1975. Not the same pairs though............

For my job I have to wear non-conductive safety shoes, and all arc flash resistant clothing. Unfortunately that includes socks.

Socks are badly designed and are in real need of some continuous improvement efforts. Seams? Why? Fortunately my feet don't sweat. If I'm not going out to work on live high voltages in the plant, I stay in my office sans socks, in favor of a pair of loafers.

As a result of leg surgery I have to wear a support sock on my left leg. I use a similar gadget because I really need it to get that sock on.

I know a few old people who sure could use that device.

May you never grow old!

Oh, wait..............I didn’t really mean that.

I wouldn’t mind getting a government-funded and subsidized contraption to spread my toes so I can more easily put on my flip-flops on weekends. Do they make any of those?

The foot hammock sounds great. I like to put a foot stool under my desk.

This thing glues to the bottom of your desk and you can put your feet in it. Apparently you can get one that warms your feet. And it’s adjustable!

May you never have a spinal cord injury that you have to discover the value of such a device.

Ditto. Two crushed cervical vertebra. I'm almost fully recovered and am incredibly thankful. I never thought I would recover to the point I have before surgery.

Devices were necessary to not be a burden on others.

Donated everything now to AVETS. They can and will be reused.

Admittedly, as a young healthy guy I didn’t see it the way you all do.

My initial injury was when I was 25. I was taught to walk it off. There were two weeks of pure h*ll (allergic to opiates). I ignored the problems for many more years until a tumble down a hillside with a lawnmower. UGH! Still walked it off and downed many Motrin with Jack. Finally, working on the house with an impact drill sent me to neurosurgery. I had temporary paralysis in my left arm and then debilitating pain.

The devices are for real. When we are young we cannot imagine what will happen when all the injuries add up. By then we wish we had more forethought about the effects of gravity and the youthful blindness of invincibility.

Been there as a young person and could not imagine all these device for "old people." I could not imagine them until things broke and I needed them.

Understood and just take care of yourself while young. Those gravity related issues will come back and get you.

Jeez, the government would never fund anything potentially VERY useful for people-—such as this.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away I had a malfunction on my main parachute and had to cut away and use the reserve. This was before “modern” parachutes and the reserve was a relatively small round parachute. It essentially was designed to save your life and not necessarily prevent all injuries (no matter how good your fall was). Anyway, I messed up my back and had MAJOR trouble even putting on my socks for about a month. In time, I healed 100% but still have bad memories of laying in bed and contorting in a struggle to put socks on. This little gadget would have come in handy.

So, props to the inventor.

Looks stupid but might have application for those with limited mobility/ability to bend down. When I injured my back, many moons ago in an AF gym, trying to get my socks and boots on was agony for a few weeks.
