This is an idea so dumb a government grant must have funded its development.

Someone seriously concocted this and apparently tried to market it. It would be faster to just put on and take off the sock with your hands.

The video is at the original post.

It could be adapted to wipe your muslim butt without using your hands.

yes, looks stupid as Harry Reid or Nancy Peloousy
but
when you get OLDE (or are disabled)
then such a device may prove quite useful

it can be very difficult (or even impossible for some folks) to put on sox and shoes

I had no use of my hands or arms for about a year. You would be amazed at how many things gizmo’s like that would have come in handy! I don’t want to see the toilet paper gizmo though.

May you never have a spinal cord injury that you have to discover the value of such a device.

I think this is probably intended for people with some level of disability, not ordinary people.

The reason for the device is that some people, especially those with back injuries, bad hips and knees cannot just reach over and pull on and pull off their socks.

My thoughts exactly, people with arthritis, bad back etc could benefit from this. But I think it should be advertised as such, so it doesnt seem like such an idiotic idea.

Before he died a neighbor of mine had to have his wife put his socks on.

He could get around fairly well but just couldn’t bend down.

Have you seen the commercial for the “foot hammock” to hang under your desk?

It is not dumb. I know certain disabled people to whom this would be a great help.

While I was recovering from knee replacement surgery I could have used something like that until I got my range of motion back.

You might want to reconsider your headline.

For most people, yes, it is rather silly.

I have increasingly restricted motion in my back and can't bend like I used to. Sometimes getting things off the floor can be an issue. I don't need something like this yet but I can see where it could be VERY helpful for some people.

This tool was shown to us in the hospital 3 months ago when my father was at his worst.

He will never be able to use it, as he’s never regained enough physical independence. But for those who COULD, this would be a wonderful apparatus to have.

What’s your beef?

Yeah! I used to think the same until I got into my 70’s. Don’t take some simple things for granted.

I could use the sock removal tool. Just take it off and dump it into the Hazmat hamper without needing to touch it.
