"Putin is behaving in a very paranoid way. Hes putting a lot of emphasis on increased repression. Hes taking a lot of money out of domestic coffers: health, education, pensions, to support his own inner circle to keep peace among competing groups. To bail these people out when the social situation in the country is so dire is an act of
.it reveals the regime for what it is, and he can only really keep peace by increasing the repression."

Who does Putin think he is? The president of the United States?
These policies worked so well for the Soviet Union, didn’t they?
All government entities are basically the power of the kleptocracy and crony capitalism. The average person is on the outside looking in. I distrust the efforts of our government, the media, the entertainment industry, the university system etc to suddenly make Putin into a bogey man - to distract us from our own sorry situation of a country.
His reckless and vainglorious adventurism is a sure sign that he’s not thinking rationally. Like his supporters, he believes NATO is weak and insignificant, and then he claims he must take hostile actions against his weak and peaceful neighbors because he fears them being in NATO. This type of thinking may work in a totalitarian state with Putin controlled media, but it’s pure bunk.
It seems to me that Putin is handling things JUST FINE and still has TREMENDOUS popular support, and the people going “paranoid” are the ones that thought they could drive him from power (rather than strengthen his position) with a few toothless sanctions.

Just like Zimbabwe is doing so well under Mugabe?
They support him 100% too
He’s still in power there...so I guess that makes my point.
Yup, they’re both still in charge .... of basket-case economies
> He’s taking a lot of money out of domestic coffers: health, education, pensions, to support his own inner circle...
So, iow, nothing new.
Hi-ho, hi-ho...
