Among the terms of the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) are the following mandatory provisions:
1.) Civilians are not permitted to own, buy, sell, trade or transfer [any] means of armed resistance including handguns.
2.) Also prohibited is the ownership of ammunition/munitions.
3.) All countries participating in the Arms Trade Treaty shall establish and maintain a National Control System with a list of all weapons including their current owners.
This makes the registration of all firearmsthat is, the National Arms Registry dreamed of by American liberalsa Treaty requirement. The registry will be used to enforce the prohibition against civilian ownership of firearms by making certain all gun owners have surrendered their firearms to the state. What the far left has been unable to accomplish at either the state or federal level has become possibly by means of International Law applying to all nations which have ratified the ATT. Should the U.S. Senate ratify the Treaty, each provision would ostensibly assume the force of law in the U.S. as well.
However, just as Harry Reid made it clear that the present Democrat-controlled Senate would not ratify the ATT, a particularly important fact will also prevent any future anti-gun Senate ratifying the Treaty. Two centuries of precedent and the decision in a number of Supreme Court cases have determined that no law may be passed in the United States which conflicts with or serves to change the Constitution. The terms of the Arms Trade Treaty obviously disagree with the 2nd Amendment. That being the case, the Constitution must either be radically altered or the Treaty rewritten. Neither of these is likely to take place.
But why would Barack Obama send delegations to 5 years of Treaty conferences and make certain the document language met Administration approval if the Treaty terms...

Will it?
This is little bammy’s wet dream come true.
He will EA this before he is out, just as sure as gravity.

By not adhering to the treaty, I assume we will be ostracized from international civilians arms trade. That means no cheap surplus ammo, no Glocks or other international brands, no replacement parts, nothing. Adhering to the treaty would produce same results, just different way.
Saying it is one thing using his EO but collecting them is another. I’m sure many people will be sad when they loose their arms when bringing them by boat to a collection point.
he can try - but unlike other countries in the past that seized weapons...the common US citizen is heavily armed...and those of us that have served are heavily trained!
no soldier will obey such illegal orders...no “true” sheriff will allow such federal take over in their county...
Maybe the police being militarized isn’t for citizen seizure - but to turn back any federal troops dumb enough to follow illegal orders to seize weapons from the citizen....???
just another though...

I cant find that in the text of the UN document. What am I doing wrong?
You can find the actual treaty here:

While I think its a turd, and I don’t expect it will ever be ratified by the Senate, the assertions made in the article regarding its impact on the domestic civilian market don’t seem to hold up to an actual cross reference with the treaty.
Their main method has always been incrementalism with the outside chance of violent revolution should the conditions coalesce into a perfect storm. We are there.
They have finally seized control from within of (1) academia, (2) the enemedia and especially the social media, (3) Hollywood, (4) non-profit foundations, (5) the Democrat Party, and made serious inroads into the churches, corporate boardrooms and the GOP.
BHO will issue presidential memorandums to advance elements of the U.N.'s ATT, just like he did 1 month after the Sandy Hook School massacre in Newtown, CT. Treaty ratification by the U.S. Senate really means nothing anymore.
He has already succeeded in constricting the domestic ammunition supply. When was the last time anyone could buy a brick of .22 LR at WalMart?
He will enact further firearm/ammo import restrictions to shrink the U.S. market. He may be able to do the same to the U.S. export market. He will find a way to direct U.S. tax dollars to support the U.N. budget of the ATT.
The other holy grail of the cultural marxists (they are well on their way to consolidating their 1st 1, universal socialized healthcare) is universal background checks for all firearm transactions. It is estimated in the U.S. that 20-25% of all firearm transactions are conducted privately without the use of the BATFE Form 4473 (i.e., FFL dealers) or going through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.
Their strategy is to advance on as many fronts as possible to keep 2nd Amendment defenders off-balance and confused. But ultimately, their next incremental goal is to identify as many households as possible which own firearms. This step is necessary before mandatory registration and ultimately confiscation.
How will they do it? Think of all the other ways the federales can identify private gun owners.
(1) If you pay for a gun/ammo transaction with a credit card, you can be traced.
(2) The U.S. Postal Service can scan the mailing labels of all those NRA and other gun/hunting magazines.
(3) If you possess a pistol license or hunting license, you are already in a state database.
(4) If you buy a federale duck hunting stamp you are already in a federale database.
(5) If you possess a federale license to own an automatic firearm (i.e., a machine gun), you are already in a federale database.
(6) Under ObamaCare, physicians will become more intrusive into your private life and ask you whether you have guns at home - this info will find its way into a federale database. You can anticipate future mandatory insurance premiums (taxes) to cover firearm risks to health.
(7) Congress can at anytime repeal the Tiahrt Amendment and the DoJ/BATFE's firearms tracing database could become public knowledge to the newspapers.
(8) The 1986 Firearm Owners Protection Act, which prohibits the registration of firearms records, can be repealed by Congress, or more likely ignored and gone around by the Executive branch.
(9) Federale law requires that FFL holders, i.e., gun dealers, must keep all of the BATFE Form 4473s on the premises of their businesses. LEOs can look at these records anytime, just not remove them from the premises. When a business closes shop, BATFE takes possession of the forms. So they already have a database of the closed shops. How hard would it be for a LEO to take his cell phone into an existing business and snap photos of those forms and compile them into a database?
(10) The National Instant Criminal Background Check mandated by the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (Brady Law) of 1993 requires a background check be completed within 3 days for all firearm purchases from a FFL holder and that no record be kept of that inquiry. How hard would it be to funnel those background checks into a covert feral database?
I am convinced that the federales have already started a master covert database under the DoJ/NSA/DoHS.
When the day arrives, the federales won't need an exact accounting of all gun owners. All they will have to do is make examples of high profile targeted individuals in each state. Those private firearm owners who refuse will be treated like tax evaders - bank accounts frozen, ObamaCare benefits denied, Social Security checks frozen, etc. No need to send armed LEOs to every suspected house. After that, either the sheeple feebly fall in line or we have CWII.
He will undoubtedly try, and just like everything else he had tried, will fail miserably, as usual. Thank God.
As he has repeatedly demonstrated over the last six years, "O" is just a petty, inexperienced bureaucrat in "way over his head".
***1.) Civilians are not permitted to own, buy, sell, trade or transfer [any] means of armed resistance including handguns. ***
ANY? Does that include bows and arrows, spears, pangas, machetes, knives, swords, pitchforks, hay rakes, garden hoes, wrenches, hammers (all types), shillelaghs?
What about a board with nails in it?
The list is endless!
The UN is not mentioned in the constitution. We are not required to sign treaties with the UN. Of course, there’s no opposition party either.
The UN is controlled by communists now and taking away guns is their way to Total Control at home
Should not even be a question, of course he will.
Undoubtedly.
His signature on this treaty alone should be an impeachable offense.
